Finally we have come to the final saree in my 53 week journey of showcasing these beautiful drapes of various materials and designs that I own. A very personal journey that I took up 14 months ago, week after week wearing these sarees, creating themes or coordinating to an occasion, the entire experience was simply exhilarating.
With my friends equally (specially Sunita who did most of the photoshoots) interested in my themes, my crazy ideas and my passion; it became a thoroughly enjoyable journey too. So when I came to the final saree I couldn’t figure out what I should do for a closure. I wanted it to be special compared to the rest.
And then I saw this Thailand Wedding Photographer creating miniature photos of real people. Idea looked pretty cool. But the execution part was hard since I don’t have all the necessary equipment or lighting; neither am I skilled enough to shoot the photos like a professional; and nor do I have any expensive photo editing software. However, with the photography skills of my friend, my vision and editing using the in-built software that my laptop came with, finally managed to get a very decent picture for a first-timer.
Of course I am going to enhance on this, use the same idea for some other photoshoot, and may be invest in some equipment and software too in future. There is a lot more for me to learn in this particular genre of photography. However, for a first timer I think, with the help of my friend, I managed to nail it.
For this miniature photoshoot, I wore this Peacock Green Georgette Chiffon saree that I bought 8 years ago when I was visiting family back home. It is decorated with self-design motifs all through covered with bead, thread and stone work hand-made by artisans. I paired it with a ready-to-wear blouse that I bought in India last year when I went for a very brief visit. I accessorized it with large gold-colored metal and stone earrings; a large precious stone and bead necklace; and color coordinating bangles on my wrists.
For the props I used a chess board, a large orange lotus, two ceramic colored mushrooms, my running medals and of course camera and lens. I wasn’t very successful with the lotus flower statue, but was glad the rest of them came out good for a first-time try. Above I am posing with my friend's Canon Rebel T5i DSLR camera, trying not to fall off it. :P
And leaning against just the camera now. Apparently I slipped and fell I guess :P
And the rest of the experiments in this miniature journey. First up, with my running medals - one sitting among them, and one trying to reach them.
Next up sitting on these ceramic mushrooms like Alice in Wonderland. For a few seconds I am taken to that wonderful world.
And finally among the pieces of chess relaxing while the war between the two teams continue behind me.
This was a very personal journey for me, motivating me to move my body, push myself to get me back to where I was before my cancer. But above all I took upon this journey to show myself how far I have come and how much more I can do no matter whatever life throws at me - Face it, Squash it with a Smile, and Stomp on Marching Forward with determination.
Thank you for visiting my blog and indulging me by reading my posts. I hope they were entertaining and charmed you. And lastly I hope we all have a happy and healthy 2021!!!!
