Prologue: May 10th is National Small Business Day. One of those are these cute little mom and pop restaurants or locally owned cafes and dive-ins. This series brings forth those little nuggets of places that I visit for my meals.
This is an ode to Sahib, Sindh and Sultan - the three locomotives that became Asia's first rail in Mumbai in 1853. And aptly we get to see one carriage, a Pullman style carriage, in its full glory including antique lamps and wonderful woodwork that serves as a dining area now. All the carriage is on rails and resides inside the restaurant.
Verdictum: Although the ambience was royal like, we didn’t feel royal as the food that we ordered ran out. In fact a few menu items we had to change. Otherwise the food was delicious with a location fit for a photographer's dream.
Here are my 2 cents:
First Impressions:
1) Splendid ambience that takes you back to the 1850s.
2) Delicious food and varieties of mocktails. However, they ran out of a few menu items we ordered. Which was surprising.
3) Decently priced and courteous staff.
4) An interesting place where we celebrated my nephew's birthday.
Amelioration:
1) Running out of a few menu items was not appealing.
