Recommendation: A slightly erotic tale that jumps between romance, eroticism and feelings of heart. Abrupt ending with sketchy sub-plots, the book failed to keep me engaged as I was constantly questioning the characters.

Sheltered in His Arms is the fourth book in the Shelter Valley series by Tara Taylor Quinn first published on April 1 2001. This came as a free bonus story in Heather Graham's Strangers in Paradise book.

Sam Montford returns to Shelter Valley, 10 yrs after leaving. However he is not all that welcome, especially by his ex-wife Cassie Tate whom he had abandoned too. Now he wants her to forgive him and hope to have a future with her.

A slightly erotic tale that jumps between romance, eroticism and feelings of heart. However, author Quinn failed to give a lot more details on the critical part of Sam and Cassie's tale that would have explained her hate for him more better. Sam's life that he was living in the 10 years away from Shelter Valley is also slightly sketchy.

The thing I couldn’t accept is that Cassie who is portrayed to have hated him in the beginning, she easily accepts his adopted daughter and even treats her. Granted she didn’t want to have the child suffer for the mistakes of her father, it just didn’t sit well with me. I was waiting for a revenge by Cassie for what all Sam put her thru, but instead we see Pay it Forward, which confused me a lot.

I wish it was written in a different way where Cassie was more happier and Sam suffers further more. No matter what good he has done after doesn’t wash the pain he caused to his love of his life as he claims. That rang a wrong note in my head.

Cassie also isnt be not blamed. Her character still lingers on the past that she claims to have gotten over. In real life its not easy to get over any pain, but Cassie seems to be carrying a torch as well trying to get over. Again confusion. And why would she not be with any other man? What if Sam had come back happy with a family, what would have happened to her? Fall apart every second?

A slightly erotic tale that jumps between romance, eroticism and feelings of heart. Abrupt ending with sketchy sub-plots, the book failed to keep me engaged as I was constantly questioning the characters.

Spoiler Alerts:

1. Plot Reveals:

a. Characters Ben Sanders, his wife Christine and adopted daughter reprise their roles. We see them first in the second book in the series My Siter, Myself. Since I have not read that book, I cant say if Cassie and Sam are seen in that book. Ben's role expands further in this book.
