Prologue: This series showcases all the Fabrics from each state in India. Some could be something I could drape on or wear; and for some of the states it could be just a home décor item. It all depends what the state's fabric is. Hope you enjoy this journey to the colorful world of Indian Fabrics.

Next up is from a state from East India - Bihar

Made from Bhagalpuro Silk, this Madhubani art work from Bihar has originated from the time of Ramayana. The art work from paintings translated into sarees made of silk. Traditionally, powdered rice, colors derived from turmeric, pollen, pigments, indigo, various flowers, sandalwood, and leaves of various plants and trees, etc were used to obtain color. Instead of contemporary brushes, objects like twigs, matchsticks and even fingers were used to create the paintings.

As with everything, the digital world has changed the art into printing on the sarees made of several materials. This is a modern version of the Madhubani Silk I wore for Ganesh Chathurthi last year.
