Telugu Association of Connecticut (TACT) hosted two great singers from Telugu (Indian Language) film world, Tollywood for Ugadi Celebrations last month - Sunita and S. P. Charan. The first time I heard Sunita was in an album song on Doordharshan, Indian public broadcasting television channel. If I remember it correctly it was titled Bashpanjali. She has come a long way since then singing in private albums, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada films. Her first breakthrough song in films was Ee Velalo Neevu from the 1995 Telugu romantic thriller Gulabi (= Rose).

S.P. Charan famously known as son of the legendary singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam has marked his stamp on not only Telugu films but also singing for Tamil, Hindi and Kannada films. I had my apprehensions about him for so long until I heard him sing live. There were so many hit songs, and many my favorites, of his that I was unaware of until he sang them again in the concert. A pleasant surprise it was to hear melodies that I love most. What a memorable and melodious musical night we had!!!

Some of the melodies we heard - Maagha Maasam Eppudostundo (1997 Egire Pavurama); Nuvvu Naatho Emannavo (2020 Disco Raja); Nenu Nenuga Lene Ninna Monna La (2002 Manmadhudu); Ganga Nee Urukule Raagamga (2003 Gangotri); Neeli Neeli Aakasam Iddamanukunna (2021 30 Rojullo Preminchatam Ela); Sandhe Poddula Kaada Sampangi (1983 Abhilasha); Aakasam Enatido Anragam Aanaatidi (1986 Nireekshana); Inthandam Dari Mallinda (2022 Sita Ramam); Ee Velalo Neevu (1995 Gulabi); Mellaga Karagani Rendu Manasula Dooram (2004 Varsham); Kanyakumari Kanapadadha Daari (1990 Bobbili Raja); Kailove Chedugudu Kanne Udukudu (2000 Sakhi); Oh Seetha Vadalanika Todavutha (2022 Sita Ramam); Mounamelanoyi Ee Marapurani Reyi (1983 Sagara Sangamam); Jilbili Palukula Chilipiga Palikina (1984 Sitaara); Andamga Lena (2006 Godavari); Egiripothe Entha Bagutundi (2010 Vedam); Tappu Tappu Tapori Kanyakumari (1991 Gangleader); Nigama Nigamatha Varntha Manohara Roopa (1997 Annamayya); and a medley of several hit songs that lasted for 10 minutes.
