I've just looked back in my journal - it was May 27th 2005 when the news broke on the internet that new Futurama episodes were being made. I remember how far away late 2007 sounded back then. Now, two and a half years later, the first of 4 DVDs is about to be released.
I'm not sure if anyone else is interested (it is entirely possible that only I am excited by this), but I will be watching the DVD on Friday 30th November, from about 7pm. As is traditional, beer and pizza will be consumed. If you want to join me, let me know and I will save you a space on the sofa.
If people want to make a sad booze-filled night of it, there have been some amazing episodes of other cartoons as well recently. The Family Guy "Blue Harvest" special retold the story of Star Wars IV from beginning to end with Family Guy characters. Also, the South Park "Imaginationland" trilogy was as fucked up and brilliant as that series has ever been.
