Okay, I have been really depressed and lonely and I just want to stay wrapped up in my depression-robe and sleep all day, but on my way to work to get yelled at some more, I came up with some life goals to distract myself from how pathetic I am

Danny and I are planning on purchasing at least one firearm this year for personal/home protection. When we do, and when we go out shooting, I will let you know in case you want to come with. I haven't shot a firearm in over a decade so I'll definitely be paying for some sort of safety/shooting class. I only went shooting with my dad at a range when I was a teenager. I've shot a 9mm and a 22, but never a shotgun or rifle. A bunch of people at my office are going through their CHL (concealed handgun license) certification. I don't have any plans to do that though. The only problem with shooting now is that it can be very expensive. The cost of ammunition has gone up dramatically in the past 3 years since the economy is in the shitter and some people are very paranoid about the impending doom they are sure America will face since Obama is screwing everything up. Whatever.
Horseback riding is SO FUN! I used to go to Girl Scout camp every summer as a kid and usually got to ride a horse at least once. For my sister's and my 16th birthday we went riding at a stable in our hometown, and Danny and I rode horses in Costa Rica. There's nothing like riding a horse along the beach, it's amazing. These poor horses didn't have any shoes so they stepped quite gingerly on the rocky roads on the way to the beach, but man once they hit that sand they were ready to RUN! I don't know of anywhere around here where you can go and pay to ride horses, but I've seen horseback riders along the hike and bike trail from Valley View Park (635 and Hillcrest) and White Rock Lake.
After some research, I found a couple of places...
Marshall Creek Ranch in Southlake
Widomaker Trail Rides near DFW airport (despite the name the reviews say they're great for beginners!).
Why don't you pick one and later this month for your birthday I will take you out for a ride and some lunch! :-D
Owning a horse is incredibly expensive: my aunt and her deadbeat husband have one and they've spent a fortune on that thing while they live in squalor. Dumb. Anyway, between stable fees, the massive amount of food and land they require, grooming, and everything else it would be crazy for anyone to own a horse unless they have a million dollars in the bank. Seriously. It's an expensive toy that just happens to also be alive. :-P

Thanks for reminding me that ammo is getting expensive, I guess that's why my brother only went to the range 2 times, haha. Oh and trust me, I'm way excited about getting to ride a horse! I am free the weekend of my birthday, so that would be absolutely perfect. Thanks again, I am so grateful for the info and advice. I really need to get my butt out of my bed and computer chair, I think this is a great start.
