12 more hours until 2010! Happy New Year's!

2009 sucked in that my classes were so so difficult and I realized that I've made a bad life decision, but on the other hand... No, there really is no other hand. This fake internet life I've created as a substitute for my miserable real life is the best thing to have happened to me this year and that is so sad.

I was going to do a review of all of the best/worst artwork I've done in 2009, but I drew nothing but Hetalia fanart, so... this is embarrassing.

Overall, I think my art stagnated this year because I literally drew for only one fandom and nothing else. I tried a lot of different coloring styles and tightened up how I drew faces, but other things like bodies failed to improve. On the other hand, I did like backgrounds more after working on my Megiddo comic, though being busy with schoolwork prevented me from working on them much.

Favorite Drawing This Year (of my own):

My favorite drawing is... France and America as cops. First off, it's France AND America. Secondly, they're cops. Thirdly, it's just a good picture.

My Best Drawing This Year:

A commissioned piece that I never sent to the person, doh. Queen Isabella from the Fountain movie. I wouldn't say it's my best drawing, but for once I got a person's likeness down. And it's not Hetalia.

Most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:

France and Vietnam. I suppose no one really cares about Vietnam much, unless you're Vietnamese.

Most Fun to Draw:

France and little Canada with the swirly psychedelic rainbow background. That was pretty ace. I should do more like that, except for the fact that I'm ripping off of someone else's art style.

Sexiest Drawing:

Errr... sexy fem!France in lingerie. I don't know, all of my dude drawings kinda suck.

"holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" drawing:

I guess naked kid France and England? I mean, that's pretty bad. They're naked and kids, how can that be right in any way?

Drawing that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:

IDK... All of those weird pairings people asked for... Canada/Ukraine for one.

Hardest drawing to do:

Pirate England was pretty hard to do. Any England is. Dumb hair.

Art I'm Most Proud of:

France and Belgium. I could have done better, but I haven't painted in a while, so it turned out pretty nice for minimal effort, etc.

Biggest disappointment:

France and Seychelles. I was working off of a photo, so it should have looked more natural and graceful than it turned out in the end. I guess that's what happens when I start inking sketches.

Biggest surprise:

my original character drawing (Ambriel the Riverdance angel warrior) that I finished after like, a year. What, original character, that's a surprise!

Most telling drawing:
I think all of my France/everyone pictures tell everyone that I'm a pervert and a francophile. One of these is true. I'll leave you to guess which one. Le wink.

A Picture I Want Remembered:

Well, I want all of them remembered. But I guess 1920s jazzy France and America because um, 1920s jazz era is awesome, like totes.

madness, art
