Disclaimer: Don't want to hear about the election? Then don't read this post. Don't think I have a right to my opinion and a right, nay responsibility, to express my opinion? Then don't read this post. Otherwise......here it is, reflections on Election 2004.....
When John Kerry conceded the election, he forgot one thing. It wasn't his to concede. How dare he think that he is more than the representative of the people who believed in him. I was not voting or campaigning for Kerry because I thought he was the next JFK, i was voting and campaigning for change. I wish that Kerry and/or Edwards had understood that. Anything would have been better than the last four years have been, however now we have a repeat process.
I wonder what people were thinking they were voting for when they cast the vote for Bush. Was it foreign policy? Or the sanctity of marriage? Did they take into consideration the global effects that this election would have? I want to cry and to scream......but I can't because my candidate wasn't just defeated, he conceded. What a way to show the far right republicans how right they are that Kerry is simply a flip-flopping politician. He didn't even want it bad enough to fight for.
It wasn't yours to give away John Kerry. A part of me, granted a very idealistic part, was smushed today. I hope that at some point in my life I will be able to vote for a candidate who I truly stand behind, who does not let me down. I hope, but I do not believe it will happen.
