I broke my car
I knew my turn was coming - First Christina, then Adam, then Shaun, now me.
On my way back from B'ham today around 1:15, it was raining and my left hand lane was ending, so I had to change lanes. On the way, my car started hydroplaning and fishtailing. So, what do I do? Of course. I press the brake. My car spun around across 2 lanes of traffic and into the ditch on the right hand side of the road. Once off the road I kept spinning - about once or twice, until the ditch spit me out perpendicular to the road - about 2 feet into the road. It probably only took about 4 seconds, but it seemed like forever and I kept wondering when I was really going to get hurt - I could feel it coming.
I immediately realized that I was on the road and put my car in reverse, but it didn't go anywhere, so I picked up my phone and called 911, but realizing that I was all in one piece and that everything worked, I hung up and called Adam. I told Adam, "I had a wreck. I'll call you later. Bye." (good way to incite hysteria in anyone, if you ask me) Another guy then came up to help me get out of the road. He told me to reverse it - at which time I realized that it would drive - as soon as I took my foot off the brake. so I got it parallel and another guy drove up. (not that I could see much as the entire left side of the car was covered in mud)
Coincodentally the two guys were actually on their way to meet each other (and had never previously met.) So, they had a small meeting there and exchanged the things that they needed to exchange.
Soon after the EMS and fire truck arrived, along with the DOT crash researcher (who had a lot of fun recreating the accident), then the state trooper, then Adam, then my dad.
Dad brought Mike's trailer and drove my truck up on it and took it away.
I'm find. everything's ok, and I have no clue how I spun across 2 lanes of traffic and ended up with my nose out in road and never got hit. Crazy. Poor Kramer.
