Brokedown Palace - (1999)
After I watched the sequel to Bridget Jones's Diary, I got a recommendation from ky02121 for this film. So, onto my Netflix list it went! I've had it forrrrr over a month now, and I decided to get off my butt and watch it so I could start actually going through my list!
This film is about two friends, Alice and Darlene, who go to Thailand as a last adventure before separating to go to college. While there, they fall to a young man's charm, and they are trickled into smuggling drugs. They are arrested and thrown into a Thai prison, and lawyer Hank Green attempts to get them out.
I'm sorry for say it, but I was not a fan! I found the acting, script, and directing to be average at best. The ending was a nice twist, but watching Claire Danes be a bitch for a little over an hour and a half was not my idea of interesting.
I will say, though, that it did show a darker side to a Thai prison, which is what I had asked for. So thank you for that, miss! :)
