Reflecting Light
Now that I’ve worn out, I’ve worn out the world
I’m on my knees in fascination
Looking through the night
And the moon's never seen me before
But I’m reflecting light
I rode the pain down
Got off and looked up
Looked into your eyes
The loss opened windows
All around
My dark heart lit up the skies
And now that I’ve worn, I’ve worn out the world
I’m on my knees in fascination
Looking through the night
And the moon's never seen me before
But I’m reflecting light
Give up the ground
Under your feet
Hold on to nothing for good
Turn and run at the mean dogs
Chasing you
Stand alone and misunderstood
And now that I’ve worn, I’ve worn out the world
I’m on my knees in fascination
Looking through the night
And the moon's never seen me before
But I’m reflecting light

It's not exactly the most complex song, but it's been putting me to sleep every night for about a week and a half. Update: went to the DeYoung museum opening this past weekend, but saw very little of the actual museum. hahahah. All I wanted to see was the poetry reading at the Auditorium. They had some great poetry, my personal favorite was the haiku by Janice Mirikitani. Former San Francisco Poet Laureates were there with some poetry written especially for the opening of the museum. I'll go back there at a later date when there aren't so many people. i'm not a huge fan of crowds in general. at least i did score a lime green stretchy rubber wristband made for the museum opening. hahahah. i think their choice of giveaway item is kinda odd, but whatever... trendy enough. anyway, Janice Mirikitani's poetry was pretty inspiring and just the thing i was looking for to jumpstart my poetry writing again. i'm working on fleshing out some pieces, but we'll see where it goes. i'll write more later...
