back and in limbo (the first in the irish sea)

first of all, how are you? yes, you! (you, too)

----

* pondering if i should twitter. twitter is the darling web 2.0 tech of last month. my new toy filter seems to have a month lag.

* finished reading vonnegut's "sirens of titan".

* read marc andreesen's how to hire the best people you've ever worked with.

* those led to certain questions. one of the qualities that marc looks for is drive. i know i had drive. i know i don't have it anymore. one of the ideas from sirens is that it is a good thing to be used by someone. realizations from those questions make me morose.

* in other news, i have loads of free time now.

* the slopes are closed at mammoth. i checked... much to my chagrin after i suggested a last minute trip.

* i don't think i have ever been in a state that is so apt for soul searching as my current state, but i have little desire to do it.

* been reading/listening to tim ferriss' "four hour work week" (good insights on working the system, tailored made for certain recently-emerged classes of people, his ideas are worth digesting for the rest of us). he wrote to the gist that one of the hardest problems is deciding what you really want to do given no unnatural restrictions. one will not have to figure that out until the luxury of hours and hours of free time is available to him. see other news and soul searching.

* consumerism has ran its course with me for the time being. hooray! if obtaining things gives dopamine, does that mean i will/am go/going thru withdrawal?
