The Male Population & Fitting in:

I didn’t see an overwhelming amount of hot guys, but my friends know that I’m almost always not attracted to people’s looks anyway (after I get to know people that is). Merriam, my host, also told me that the guys there were more of “marriage-material” guys and not the “frat-boy” type. That makes sense since the school doesn’t have any frats, and the honor code definitely attracts that type of person. I’m really excited about that because every guy I met was so friendly. There was actually this other prospective guy (Evan) I met from Portland, Oregon who was definitely one of the hottest guys I’ve ever seen. He’s still trying to decide between there and Stanford. I definitely wouldn’t have approached him, but I became really good friends with this girl (Katie) who went to middle school with him, and she introduced us. It was so surprising how I became pretty close with people in just a few hours. Katie and I got along as if we’d known each other for years. It was really strange and really cool. I felt so comfortable there. (I don’t think I’m going to miss my family as much as I’d thought.)

The ratio is about 50:50 too, and I asked about the Bryn Mawr girls coming over all the time and if they were competition at all, and most people said they really weren’t there too often. They also said “there’s a reason they go to an all girls school,” and there’s usually only one in a class if any. That’s really good to hear.
