The sun was low in the summer sky as two small figures stood vigil just past an imposing stone entrance. "When I'm grown, no one will be punished for stealing sweets," the boy declared.
"How will you do this, young lord?" the girl asked, eyes focused on his figure.
The boy hesitated. "I haven't decided yet. But when I do, you'll help me?" The girl nodded solemnly. "Can we go inside yet?"
"Governess said we weren't to return until twilight," the girl answered.
The boy kicked lightly at the dirt. "Next time, we'll wait until after the party has started."
