A Funny Accident

Feb 08, 2009 01:46

Some time ago I talked to one of my best friends from my high school days via chatting.
He just had his sixth (or was it seventh?) break-up with a girl, and I was still pretty emo (my last entry explained it all).
To say the least, we both were feeling pretty shitty and can't wait to tell one another about what's happening.

I know he's usually a mess after breaking up with a girl.

But if he was feeling emo that day, he sure didn't sound like it.

His mood really changed after a few days.
He went from being frustrated back to his cheerful, laid-back, whatever-goes attitude.
After I told him my reason for being emo, he told me something that happened to a friend of his.

He told me that one of his friends was caught in a motorcycle accident.
Naturally, I was worried and asked about his friend's condition.
Surprisingly enough, he told me to laugh.

It turned out that his friend wasn't injured at all.
In fact, he said the person involved came into the game center where he usually hangs out and laughed when he told his friends about his accident.

And it played out like something out of a cartoon scene.
Here's what happened:

His friend was riding his motorbike down the street and wasn't aware that it had literally split in half under the seat.
So for a while, he was riding on top of just the front half of his bike. (I'm imagining someone on a runaway half-motorbike while going 'tra-la-la-la-la')
Meanwhile the rear part was off on its own, tailing right behind him.
He came to a red light, so he braked the front wheel........only to be hit with the rear half of his own bike from the back.

Good thing he wasn't speeding, nor were there a lot of people around.
Or else he could've been seriously injured.....and embarassed a lot more than he was.

I literally rolled on the floor laughing after he told me this.
Maybe since the way I pictured it was laughable.
And whaddya know, it really took me off from being emo.

Looks like I can add this to the list of the 'crack moments' I've seen or heard.

By the way, there's also another one of those that he was involved in.

It was during a debating competition, the provincial selection for the national high school level championship to be exact.
Back then, he was trying to make his way around while my debating coach (who is one of the women I admire in life) and I were chatting.
He wanted to get through from between us, and obviously he said something along the lines of 'excuse me' beforehand.
But neither me or my debating coach heard that.

Nope.
We both heard him say "Eskumis", it's pronounced as-koo-mis.
In the Indonesian native language, 'es' means 'ice' and 'kumis' means 'mustache'. (He told me later he was trying to say 'excuse me, miss')

............I can't help but picture my debating coach having a frozen mustache.

I still crack up when it pops up in my mind. XD
