some new toys

Well, I had been meaning to do this for a while. I wanted to get a better webcam because the one I had was crap, and didn't work very well. So, I went to officeworks to have a look at the one they had in their catalogue. There were still some there, so I had a proper read of what it does.
Video capture up to 640 * 480 pixels
Image size up to 1280 * 960 pixels
CMOS sensor
Frame rate up to 25 fps
Clip to fit on LCD screens, so it sits perfectly on top of my laptop screen.
It also has a microphone for video conferencing.
It cost me $59 and it's pretty good. It took a while to set it up because it didn't work at first, and I was thinking, oh great, I got a dud, but I reinstalled and it was ok. I also picked up a USB hub, so that I can fit everything on. I only have 2 main USB ports, and about 4 things that require USB, so I can't use them all at once. Now I can. I've been playing with it a bit, having a bit of fun. It's good to have one that works. I can webcam with people for once now and don't have to go, oh, I don't have a webcam.

My Dad also got a DVD burner today, dual layer. So, he wanted it installed of course, so I was setting that up for him as well when he got home from work. When I went to take both sides of the computer he was like, You only need to take one side off don't you? I had to tell him that the screws for it were on both sides and I need access to the other side to get the screws out of the DVD ROM. It's a pity we didn't have a spare IDE cable, then it would have been a little easier, the cable was in so damn hard, I had a battle getting it out, same as some of the screws. Anyway, Dad tested it, and he's pretty happy with it. He can finally burn all his movies. The only thing with it is, when he tried to do it, it took 2 hours to create and organise the folders or something, but then only 5 minutes to burn the actual movie. Oh well, he can get used to it.
