Well, here I am, teetering no the precipice of the next stage of THE BIG LIFE PLAN. I am all settled in Montreal and my apartment feels very homey, owing mostly to the cat that shares it with me. Mr. Classy Jack has been an excellent addition to my life. But what is ALSO excellent is the atmosphere at Concordia. The profs are all very supportive and invested in mentoring us into our chosen fields. I will have my own conference section of 30 students that I will teach 45 minutes a week as a supplement to their lectures. I have an office and a key and a mailbox in the faculty mailroom! Crazy. Also I have a salary and will start getting paid this week, I think! Hooray! It is still a little lonely here, but I hope to make friends with some of the seemingly excellent people in my cohort. I miss everyone back home though. There are so many places here I would love to sit with a group of my nearest and dearest and it sucks that I can't right now. Hopefully my first visitor will be coming to see me in the next couple of weeks, and I am looking forward to that very much.
