Did a run up/around the Wrekin this morning with some people from my english and media classes. It was good (apart from the bit where I was sick...) and I finished it 3 minutes faster than I did last year! We were meant to have people viewing the house today, but nooo. So I had to wait a whole hour to shower for no reason. Not good.
So, the police were round our end (again) last night. Like everyone, I assumed they were there for the rowdy chavs like they normally are, but as it turns out, they weren't. As it turns out they were there because some of the younger rowdy chavs had apparently been bullying the kid at number fourteen. I have a few things to say about this.
Firstly, when the hell are the police going to learn to prioritise? They never come round when half the street is ringing them late at night because there's a whole group of agressive drunks hanging round, yelling and smashing things up. They just say "sorry, there's not much we can do" and hang up. They might drive in a while later, if you keep ringing and ringing. But when some little kid has been bullied they're there and dealing with it quick as a flash. Not to say that bullying is a low priority problem that shouldn't be dealt with, but fucking hell. When did this kid's parents call the police? 20 years ago? Did he get bludgeoned to death or something? Have the parents been calling and complaining every single day since the kid was born? Shows you where the police force in this country is going.
"There's a group of drunken youths fighting outside in the street and they've just smashed a car window." "Uh. Right. Not much we can do, I'm afraid."
"My son has been bullied!" "Oh, right, we'll be over straight away!"
I bet they don't have to do much paper work for telling bullies off. I mean, christ, how badly is he being bullied?
Secondly, police parking. We'd been out for dinner and couldn't park. The police car had just driven in, parked (somewhat diagonally) right in the centre of the road, blocking off at least three spaces. Would it kill them, for once, to use a parking space like everyone else? Or just leave someone in the car so they could move it when other people are trying to get in? It doesn't take that much time to park properly. Just because you've got flashing lights on your roof doesn't mean you should be allowed to park however the hell you want.
And that's just last night. God knows how long it'd take if I were to list every complaint I have about the police - or at least, our police.
And people wonder why the police are hated....
