I am interested in the "paradise" pictures & how they would compare to Axel Hutte's forest photos.. I saw them and they sound rather similar. Ideas?

It has been too long since I have seen Axel Hutte's forest photos at Cohan, Leslie, and Brown to really comment with any detail. The two series become sort of a blur in my mind. Struth's a more 'abstract', in the sense that they are allover compositions that do not contain anything as a referent outside the dense greenery. I remember Hutte's as being shot from a greater distance (occasionally) and perhaps having skies as well. Of course a web search doesn't help.

Yea! new Laura Owens icon. I was thinking how I could scrimp enough together to fly to LA and see the show. oh well.

Gillian Carnegie.. is this the lady who painted a wee version of "Origin of the World" but from rear entry perspective? That was one of my favorite shows. Extremely sensual, indeed. Between the low relief of the brushstrokes and the smell in the air (my favorite, second only to intaligo ink) you could almost feel the paintings. Sounds daffy, I know, but I'm not too eloquent this morning. LFL is now across the street from AR?

Last summer, I thought I would put away enough money to fly to LA for Thomas Struth and Andy Warhol (especially the Bruce Hainley-curated film program). I thought wrong. I'm sad to have missed the Warhol show in its entirety, and as you can see I have been to the Struth here at the Met. Flash Art is starting a six- or eight-page New York section in each issue, as the editors felt the magazine's four or five reviews per month and paltry news coverage was not enough. I'm not sure including capsule reviews of exhibitions will help much; my 172 words on Thomas Struth leave out 4,300 in notes that I had already taken, and hardly seem to make a dent in a twenty-five year survey spread across two floors and the Great Hall of our city's largest museum. But I digress.

Did you see my previous post about Ten Verses? I urge you to consider submitting something.

LFL is directly across the street from Andrea Rosen. I believe they are now located at 530 W 24th.

yes, I thought that as well, and I had to go for work: one of our artists was having an opening, but the date got pushed back, and so we had to push our trip back. Fortunately, I go to Dallas once every 2 months for various reasons and I got to see the Struth show there when it opened. I felt like I was following it around for a while. I was in LA when the show opened, and then in NYC when it opened there.

I'll definitely think about submitting something, no promises. I've been wanting to work on my writing.
