hartford

I am quite tired at the moment, so here's a brief synopsis:

a) the trip

a little bit longer than expected but not by much.  it was a fun ride.  we made a documentary and named it after a beatles song.  i can't tell you which.

b) hartt school

awesome.  the students and the people there are very nice.  the studio we recorded in had this fucking ridiculous Steinway grand piano that i quickly became accustomed to and obsessed with.

c) songs

recorded 3 of them, wanted to do 5, people were tired, we didn't have enough time.  i was disappointed.  however, the quality of the recordings was amazing, and all of the songs make me smile when i listen to them.  i actually had to play the piano solely as a percussive instrument for one song which was challenging and very fun.  all in all i am happy with how the songs have turned out so far, and they still have to be mixed and edited, so... it's really exciting.

d) people

i am fairly sure that the next session we do will be with the same people- myself, Brian, Eric, Adam Cote(bass player, hartt), Anna Walker (cello, hartt), Rachel Dinoto (violin), Frank and Kristen.  Adam makes me feel not awesome at music by being really awesome at music, which is good, because it will inspire me to practice more.  Eric is an incredible engineer and producer.

e) the city of hartford

very hilly, curvy, kind of confusing but not as confusing as pittsburgh.  hartford seems to be a very hospitable area.  the food is decent but they call their french fries "Crinkle fries" which i find a bit pretentious and unnecessary, although the service is great.  the sunsets down there are much more extravagant than the ones in rochester, i think.  also, the city of hartford has tumbleweeds, no lie, i saw one.

that's all! maybe i'll post again when the songs are mixed
