Day 56 was The Oscars!
I spent most of today editing photos. Like, a lot of photos. And I still haven't finished.
I also read a bloggers commentary on the Oscars, which of course happens in America first. I wasn't actually going to watch it this year, but of course, was glued to the TV once it began. Why? Because I am a filmmaker, and it is my duty! I am sure everyone says 'Oh no, I don't want an Oscar. That's selling out!' But when you are nominated for an Oscar, you don't exactly turn it down!
I love Cate Blanchett. Why isn't every actress as good as her? And as gracious? When Marion won for best actress, Cate nearly flew out of her chair with happiness! How wonderful is that? And go Marion by the way. She was exceptional in La Vie En Rose.
No female cinematographers nominated. That's ok. I will be the first. haha. There definitely is a trend. It seems you have to be over 50, dress badly and be European. And male, of course. I have none of those qualities, I hope! So I am happy to break the trend for all the budding female cinematographers out there. Speaking of the award, WHY is Cameron Diaz invited to the oscars? WHY!? She is not exactly 'up there' with the best of them. And she butchered the award! Silly girl.
I did like Jon Stewarts presenting skills. Comments such as 'You are probably all wondering what we do in the commercial breaks. Well, we sit here and criticise what you are wearing. IT GOES BOTH WAYS PEOPLE!' and regarding 'Norbit's' nomination: 'It's great! Too often does the academy overlook bad movies!' made me crack up.
I really need to see No Country For Old Men, Once & There Will Be Blood. Obviously fantastic films, but my funds situation is keeping me from seeing movies lately. I also wouldn't mind seeing August Rush. It looks nice.
I really need to find a director for my yet unknown film project, and I need to find them fast. That's all that is on my mind right now. Oh, that and my studio lights are officially in the mail. WOO! And the auction for my camera flash ends tomorrow. Hopefully will be fully equipped and ready to go tomorrow afternoon!
Today's Video has to be Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova performing 'Falling Slowly' from their film ONCE at the Oscars. It's a fantastic song, and they deserved to win. They are also my kind of filmmakers. Dream big and you will succeed! MAKE ART!
