I went to both shows, yesterday and tonight. Quick recap:
Tuesday
Il Comunicato- a band I've never heard of. Very good, the singer is really good... Joe F bought the CD, I might borrow it
Blueprint- rapped about girls and jobs. He's hilarious. His fat girls/skinny girls poem is high-larious. Very good, recognized lots of songs, but he did it to different beats. Most notable- He sang "Run" over the Pharcyde's "Can't Keep Runnin Away" instrumental. Very skillful.
Atmosphere- Man o Man... He played with Doomtree, some good old Dynospectrum shit. I love hip hop bands, Traditional Methods, Heiruspecs, etc so I went ape shit. Loved it. Played a good variety of songs, not just his latest nor stuff from Se7en.
I was stuck in the back with Kate and Joe, and I was at a really awkward place, so I couldnt really stand up fully or move my hands in "the hip hop" way. Still loved it though... very good show.
Wednesday
Passions- a band I've never heard of, but Grace (see below) basically went for them. She told me all about them. I REALLY liked them... They are by NO means hip hop, they are what I would call screampunk. There's prolly a better name for this, but it was hardcore. Keyboards were awesome, and they put on a very gooood show. Very into the crowd.
Eyedea/Carnage/Masta I/DJ JimmyTwoTimes- I was expecting Eyedea to throw down from E&A, but I was mistaken. The entire set (an hour) was all freestlying, with no breaks and no dead air. Beatboxing, turntablism, crazy duet shit, it was all there. Some great lines, great energy. Eyedea's a weirdo. He really gets into his shit.
Atmosphere- played the same set as Tuesday, but during Shrapnel stupid retards decided to start moshing. Now, I was UP FRONT so my knees were slamming into the fucking stage. They are sore. On the other hand, I would get knocked over, but the stage would keep me legs up, putting me into an "assume the position"...position. There was a girl behind me, so I got buttraped a couple times. She kept apologizing. Anyways, as I said the played the same set, but for an encore they played "Tryin to Find a Balance". Amazing. Thats all I can say.
So, I went there without a ticket, a dicey move indeed. As I was going up into the line, I counted how many people were in front of me for tickets. Fifty-fucking-one. So, I was number 52. I heard there was going to be 50 tickets available. Distraught, I asked if everybody in line is getting tickets at the door, and TWO people said they had tickets. SAVED. People budged in line though, but then again... I found out they had 65 available. But I had to wait in line for a half hour in the fucking cold with only a hoodie on. DAMN it was cold. Waiting, I got to talking to a girl next to me, we started chattin and whatever, name of Grace. Really cool girl, into the punk scene and stuff. She actually came (basically) for Passions, because she knows the band (well, 3/4 of them). We talked about music, school, the basics. We hung out during the concert, cramming into each other and stuff. Twas neat. After the show, we drove to......DAMMIT I forgot the name. A coffee shop on Riverside, over by the Triple Rock, anyone? I got a quick cup, exchanged personal telephone numbers, and said goodbye ;). So.... yeah.... I'll prolly give her a call sometime soon, and she will prolly read this. awkward... It's always weird to read people talking about you. It's like eavesdropping and its about you. God I'm hungry, I want an Angus Bacon Cheddar Ranch burger from Burger King RIGHT NOW. Maybe some Life cereal. Well, thanks for listening/reading, have a good nig..morning.... and I hope everyone has a wonderful "time until I post again"
~Gundy! That's right.
