Okay, so I'm still feeling blue. Now I'm flipping through my new Raggedy Ann books and skimming a little when I come across a book with Raggedy Andy engaging in swordfights (FUCK YEAH) and um... traveling with a knight on "sword-back." I'm not kidding about this. There's pictures of him riding on a giant sword. :o
Then I read an early passage and... omgomgomg. Raggedy Andy is the cutest gay boy ever. ;;
After Raggedy Andy had been sitting in the little cave for about ten minutes he felt something beneath him start to wiggle.
"Dear me!" Raggedy Andy thought to himself, "I hope I haven't been sitting all this time on some poor little woodland creature." He stood up and then laughed quietly to himself. "I was sitting upon a flat board," he said. Raggedy Andy picked up the flat board and crawled with it to a spot where the light came into the little cave. Then he was surprised indeed, for he held in his rag hand a large flat wooden sword.
Raggedy Andy sat down with the wooden sword across his knees and thought so hard two of the weakest stitches ripped in the top of his head.
"Now isn't it funny that the wooden sword should have wiggled just as if it were alive?" he said to himself. After he had thought real hard again Raggedy Andy gave another chuckle to himself and said, "Why, now I know. It is a magic sword."
Then Raggedy Andy whispered to the wooden sword and asked, "Are you a magical wooden sword?"
When Raggedy Andy whispered this, the magical wooden sword began moving out of the little cave and, as Raggedy Andy held on to it, he knew the wooden sword meant it was time to leave.
So Raggedy Andy crawled after the wooden sword out of the little cave. He was glad to find that all the king's guards had gone off into another part of the wood to search for him. Then the wooden sword swung slowly around and got between Raggedy Andy's legs. It rose in the air and went sailing swiftly and silently along through the woods carrying Raggedy Andy upon it, just as if it were a hobby horse made for a doll to ride upon.
The wooden sword carried Raggedy Andy rapidly away from the castle. Raggedy Andy knew that the guards could not have come so far as the sword had taken him, so, when he came to a knight in armor sitting upon a hard stone crying, Raggedy Andy asked the magical wooden sword to stop. "Why are you sitting upon a cold hard stone crying?" Raggedy Andy asked the knight.
"Because King Growch has told me he doesn't want me to work in his castle any more."
"Dear me!" Raggedy Andy laughed."You should be very glad he doesn't. He is such a mean person I do not see why anyone would care to work for him."
"Really and truly, I did not care to work for him, the knight replied. But there was a mystery at the castle which I wished to discover. And now, how can I discover it if I do not work there? Just tell me that. There is nothing left to do but to go home and tell my wife that I must look for another job."
"If you are going in my direction you may ride behind me upon my magical wooden sword."
Andy, that's not how it works. <.< ...OH. The other sword. And the knight's married anyway. :P
*brb reading out of order and going straight to Raggedy Ann's Lucky Pennies*
