And electric flying squirrels. What is this tom-foolery I don't even. My god though, all those Emolga icons
youendme made are adorable.
My novel is finally getting a kick-start! At least in terms of plot. I'm not stuck in the same scene anymore! Raggedy Andy and his friends are heading out into the wide world of the museum and it makes me happy~ I'm amused by their reactions.
"Oh shit, we're leaving the nice big safe cheerful preschool room and we're going back to dusty gritty hell and worse. D:" "UM. SUDDENLY I FEEL DISCOURAGED. DD:" "*sigh* I expected this. Might as well face the music and get ready to die." "We can do this, everyone! I know we just met a few days ago, but we worked together and discovered we're stronger than we gave ourselves credit for. If we made it to start our journey, we'll make it against anything that stands in our way. *leads everyone by the hand* Now let's get out there and stop those chimeras! :D"
Guess which one's Andy. XD And now I've got Pollyanna (I Believe In You) stuck in my head. DAMN YOU FUCKING RAG DOLL.
Speaking of lovely music, I'm gonna jump on a bandwagon and take the music meme Carrie, Indie, and Tifa have been circulating. :3 I thought of starting it but stress and family matters got in the way, but I'm definitely free now! Oh boy oh boy oh boy~ ♥
Day 1. A song/artist you're currently hooked on
Alongside
Candy Hearts and Paper Flowers and a few scattered songs from that movie, Kate Bush is my primary musical influence for my book. :3
When I first heard Kate Bush, I couldn't track her voice at all. In
Don't Give Up (with Peter Gabriel) and
Waking The Witch, her voice was kinda distorted as if she was singing underwater. Not that it's a bad thing, as it fits the ghostliness of the former and the nightmare fuel of the latter. Especially the latter. *shiver* Then I heard
Cloudbusting and I got to hear her clearly. And I was like... whoa. I didn't know what the song was about at the time (a father-and-son song from the POV of Peter Reich, who recounts the memories of when his daddy, Wilhelm Reich, was arrested by the government for his controversial experimentation with "orgonon") but I remember feeling happy and hopeful and adventurous, with the following lyrics resonating in me: I just know that something good is gonna happen // And I don't know when // But just saying it could even make it happen.
I think I put "Tori Amos" on Pandora as my station or something. 'Cause that was when I heard
Babooshka. I never forgot that song and was blown away. I thought, "Shit. I need Kate Bush in my life. Pronto." So I got The Whole Story, which is a collection of her greatest hits, and later, Hounds of Love. Hounds of Love, I whole-heartedly recommend as a starting album to anyone new to Kate Bush. Just... wowowowowowowow. And yes,
Wow is the name of one of her songs.
I love that she can be angelic and off-beat. Her voice has matured over the years (her first album, The Kick Outside, came out when she was friggin' 13) and the range and subject matter of her songs are unique and awesome. I mean... cloudbusting. I never would've thought of that in a billion years. Her first hit was
Wuthering Heights (based off the book) and wrote
Running Up That Hill, which later got covered by Placebo and Within Temptation (both versions which are different and awesome in their own way) Not cool enough? She wrote a song
inspired by The Shining. She even put it as the final thing you hear on her album, The Dreaming. Sweet dreams indeed!
LINKS. LINKS EVERYWHERE. If you clicked all that, you got a lotta spare time and I'm amazed. Congratulations! *high-five*
