Any secret is safe with Toad, so it's no surprise to him Mario is in a fierce threesome with Peach and Bowser. Well it DOES explain why Bowser "kidnaps" her all the time... XD
Remember A Christmas Carol when Scrooge goes to open the door only for the knocker to turn into Jacob Marley's head, which howls his name and sends him off the porch? That's what happened to Mario here.
[GRATUITOUS RENDITION OF KNOCKER SCENE]
It was not in impenetrable shadow as the castle walls were, but had a dismal light about it, like a bad spiny in a dark sewer. It was not afraid or timid, but looked at Mario as Luigi used to look: with a ghostly green hat up on its ghostly head. The mustache was curiously stirred, as if by breath or hot air; and, though the eyes were wide open, they were perfectly motionless. That, and its livid colour, made it horrible; but its horror seemed to be in spite of the face and beyond its control, rather than a part or its own expression. As Mario stares fixedly at this phenomenon, it becomes a knocker again. Startled, Mario flails his arms and falls on his bottom. :D
