I'm a little torn about Kris Allen winning American Idol. To be truthful, I've had a little crush on him this whole season, and would have bought his album way before Adam's, but it would have been cool if a gay guy won "American Idol". However, since Adam refuses to come out publicly, it still wouldn't have been that great a success. However, Kris did a great job.
I'm listening to "Don't Stop Beleivin'" from the Fox pilot of "Glee". I can't stop listening to it. I also bought the "Glee" version of "Rehab", which is so funny. I've been thinking about trying to audition for the Los Angeles Gay Men's Chorus....I don't know, just because I have always had such good memories from high school choir and still remember a great deal of my baritone parts. Not because I'm super all about being in a gay choir, it makes me think of David who joined it in "Six Feet Under".
The most exciting thing that's happened these past few months is that I've been recording cartoon voices for a future MTV show called "Popzilla". I don't know when it will start, but it's a cheaply animated ("Southpark") show that makes fun of pop culture and celebrities. I think it may be very funny, or not embraced by people at all. We'll see. However, I go in for about 20 minutes and say a few lines as Nick Jonas or Zack & Cody. Pretty much, I play all the young teen/20's douche characters and I sound pretty similar all the time, but it's a great and exciting gig. I got it through auditioning for a friend that produces the show.
I'm hoping as a result I can get a voiceover agent, but it's a very very difficult thing to do. Even moreso than acting, getting into the voiceover world is nearly impossible....even with a paying gig!
I've also been doing background work on a future SPIKE TV show called "Players". It's been a great way to learn how television shows and movies are filmed, and also hang out with some my friends who are the stars...and other friends who are doing background work with me. We get paid about $100 a day and get a free breakfast and a nice lunch. Extras are weirdos. Some people make total careers of it. The HBO show "Extras" was not joking. I got to do a tiny little bit in an episode playing a guy trying to hook up with one of the female characters (HA!), but I don't know when that show will start. Despite being on SPIKE TV, it looks like it will be a funny show.
So, even though I am doing some cartoon work on a show that will soon air, there isn't anything else on the horizon. I've been auditioning poorly for commercials and slowly getting better. Ha ha. I'm a funny guy and somewhat talented, but NOT good at commercial auditions yet.
I'm moving in with my boyfriend Bryan and his current roommate in two weeks. It's a big and scary step, but I think it will be great. We're getting an apartment in Toluca Lake. We'll have an extra bedroom for office/guests, so hopefully a friend or two can stop by sometimes.
So much info eh?
