I saw the documentary "American Teen", which was alright, but not groundbreaking in any way. The movie follows 5 different high school kids through their senior year. Although at times it was touching, it was more akin to a 1.5 hour "The Hills". The movie also had strange animation sequences depicting the kids and their fantasies.
One the the kids had really bad acne, and they when they showed his computer generated fantasy of him as a "Link" (Zelda) type character, they animated him with horrible acne, which was a true depiction but very uncomfortable. I would hate to be that kid with computer generated acne.
I also rented "Step it Up 2: The Streets". I knew it would be a silly movie, but everyone that had seen it thought it was fun fluff. I felt like a computer had written the screenplay, it was just so by the book and soulless. And the dancing wasn't that exciting to me...so I guess I'm an old curmudgeon who demands more high brow films.
Bryan and I had a dual birthday party celebration on Friday night, which was a lot of fun!
On Saturday night I made crispy chicken tenders, because I've been craving them for some reason. But I made a healthy version, as advised by Ellie Kreiger of "Food Network". I have her cookbook "Healthy Appetite" and I really like it.
The chicken strips are chilled in low fat buttermilk for 15 minutes, and then you coat them in a finely crushed up Corn Chex and bake them in the oven at 400 degree until done (about 10-15 minutes for mine). Then I ate them with a honey mustard dressed (just mixed a base of mostly dijon mustard and then smaller parts of honey and mayonnaise). Healthier than most versions of chicken strips.
I also made "smashed potatoes", which was just boiling red potatoes with the skin on, and toasting some garlic and smashing the potatoes with the garlic, olive oil, and parmesan cheese. No butter or milk or cream. They tasted great!
