women aren't stupid, really

A man talks through his ass in Is that a purse or an overnight bag? and offends a whole bunch of women with the way he worded his post. He could have started a constructive dialogue on how to streamline what a person (male OR female) carries on a regular basis, but instead does the tired old "sensible man telling the silly women what's the logical ( Read more... )

Hahah - what a silly man XD He soundslike he was plucked out of one of those 50s vaccume cleaner adverts where they encourage women to be ELEGANT whilst hoovering BECAUSE THAT IS ALL WE CARE ABOUT XD.

Personally - I never go anywhere without both a BOOK and a NOTEBOOK because if I stop for a second anywhere my brain either requires to be appeased with reading or works too hard and demands that the flow of ideas be written down...

wouldn't be seen dead with a clutch bag anyway... it just... doesn't go with anything I try to project in my appearance - and YES I care about the image I project all the time *Very Vain ^^;;*

Yes, he does sound very silly. He conflates simplification with having the smallest possible bag. The clutch is so wrong for so many women who are on the go and don't want to waste time remembering to clutch their clutches throughout the day...

Hah, I could never get into holding a clutch bag because you have to hold onto it at all times. That means one of your hands is not free, which makes shopping for clothes or anything more difficult. Plus I also don't feel as safe with that. I like something with my things near me. I also have a habit of putting down things, so no clutch ever for me. I like my big bag full of things I need. I put my cell phone and everything in my bag, so again no clutch would work for me. But why it matters to this guy I don't know.

I know exactly what you mean. I think I'd forget a clutch somewhere pretty quickly if I tried using one for everyday.

Yep. Must fit a book.

Never leave home without it.

That aside...how many men will critique the luggage a woman totes but think nothing of handing her the camera, map, his sunglasses, keys ...etc....to carry, because he doesn't have a pocket.

I have actually DOWNsized my purse now that the youngest is capable of carrying his own crap, but mothers are the packmules of the family and guys don't get it.

I actually buy my purse(s) very specifically ~ just big enough for a paperback novel, wallet, cell and a few pockets for needful things ~ but nothing else. I will NOT carry the mans'stuff anymore because like the children...he's old enough to drag around his OWN luggage.

:P

See, the sensible men have it all figured out. When they need to carry more stuff than can fit their pockets? Get their girlfriends/wives to carry it for them! Brilliant! *eyerolls*

I gave up on a regular purse a while back. I love my bookbag and don't go anywhere without it. As a compromise though, I have what I call my wallet on a string inside the bag. Sometimes I'm forced to leave the bookbag in the car, so I grab just the wallet, sling my arm and head through the strap and woosh.

Yeah, I am usually considered the pack mule, but there has only been one time I've not had what someone needed in my bag. *go-go scout prepared-ness* ^__^

Lots of people use backpacks for the same function as a purse. I remember doing it in college, and having to clean it out pretty often to keep it from getting too full of crap. I've never had a purse as big as a backpack so I never had a problem with becoming too much of a pack mule with a purse.

I think it's very efficient to carry around various useful things. It can be such a hassle to interrupt your day to track down and buy something you need right at the moment but don't have at hand.
