I just read yet another squee-fest re: Ze by Shimizu Yuki and it's just a little depressing to see all that joy I can't share. I don't hate it, but I certainly don't like it. Hm...or more like it makes me shrug in total indifference. Every mention I happen to see is always a positive reaction, and even the only RL friend who has even heard of ( Read more... )

I don't think you have to feel obligated to like a series, really... I mean, there's a lot of series that I personally could never get into, even though tons of people seem to like them. *coughcoughharuwodaiteitaokaneganaicoughcough* In fact, the Viewfinder series you mentioned (which I know is crazily popular) is something I never really continued reading beyond the first couple of chapters since it didn't appeal all that much to me.

In any case, I'm sure there some other people out there who don't like Ze, and maybe it just so happens that you seem to be surrounded by people who do. :p Either that or those who don't like the series just simply never talk about it (which I think makes sense, since most people would rather forget about a series they don't like), so it seems as if there aren't that many people who aren't too keen in the series while there actually might.

Also, I can kind of understand why you wouldn't like Shimizu Yuki's stuff... she does have some rather strong-handed and twisted relationships in her series - her Recipe series made me go 0_o and even in Love Mode there were some couplings I wasn't particularly keen in. However, it's all really just a matter of taste, so don't worry about not being able to get into her stuff - just concentrate on squeeing over all the other stuff you like instead. *grin*
