Yea, I lost my passport on Sunday. Typical.
I flew back from Paris into Milan and we spent the day around the city. We had already bought train tickets back to Florence, so I look in my bag to get on the metro back to the station... and my big bank zip up with all my tickets/ passport is missing. Either it fell out or someone stole it from purse, although I am assuming the latter because the case it was in looked like it would have been holding cash.
Anyway, as you can imagine I wanted to cry, but of course I always keep my cool (hah), and just bought another 3hour train ticket to get back to my appartment after one looong weekend of traveling and no sleep whatsoever.
Paris was incredible though, I fell in love. There were so many couples everywhere which was kind of bittersweet. We got there July 14, Bastille day, which is France's version of the 4th of July. So everything was closed and people were parading the streets. They had fireworks behind the Eiffel Tower and it was straight out of a movie.
So for the passport I thought that I would have to go to the U.S. Embassy in Rome, but fortunately they have a consulate office here in Florence so I went there this morning and filled out the application that I had done right before leaving the States. Talk about a huge hassle. So I dropped over another 100 bucks, making my current $0.00 in both my checkings and saving account going even further in debt.
Oh did I mention that I have just come to realize that I have absolutely no money? Yea... and my mom is in Greece so my options to having money transferred in are rather limited until I leave for Athens on Saturday. Pretty much I am screwed, which Bank of America likes to worsen by charging me $30 each day that my account is under, and that charge is increasing daily.
Did I mention screwed?
I think that I might have to begin panhandling on the streets with the gypsies. Not a bad alternative to starving for the next four days.
Hope you enjoyed my essay, wish me luck... or send money to the "Elaine has the worst luck in the world" fund, thanks.
