Alexander blurb

Today I concocted a scene in my mind for a confrontation between Alister and Alexander. I just finished writing it. ^^ And I am pleased, because I believe I've made Alexander sufficiently different from Nova while still keeping some of her doppelganger qualities.

Alister looked to where Valon and Raphael were both lifelessly laying on the ground. Both were unconscious, and blood dripped over Valon's face from a vicious head wound. Raphael, who had been stabbed in the chest, was laying in a small pool of the substance. Neither showed any signs of awakening.

The redhead looked up, eyes flashing, to where Alexander was hovering in the air nearby. "I hate you," he uttered in a quiet, deadly tone. "I hate you!" How dare this strange phantom suddenly appear and begin making their lives a living Hell! Alister would not stand for it any longer. He had been pushed too far, and that was obvious from his flashing eyes. Now this creature would pay for his crimes.

Alexander seemed undaunted. With a flap of his mismatched wings, he landed on the ground behind Alister and embraced him, a soft smirk coming over his features even as he noticed Alister's discomfort. "Of course you hate me," he whispered. "What do you expect?" He leaned forward, breathing a truth into Alister's ear that the gray-eyed man could not comprehend. "You hate yourself, don't you? I am you. It was because of you and your self-loathing that I was created. I wouldn't exist if it wasn't for you." He grinned widely, bearing his sharp teeth. "I'm your shadow, your opposite. I hate everything you love . . . and I love everything you hate. I love you, Alister." It was not a romantic love, but a love that would be impossible to explain, even for Alexander himself. He just knew that it existed and that he felt it towards his creator, while for Valon and Raphael he held only contempt.

Alister had gone stiff in Alexander's arms. His heart was racing wildly, the confusion and turmoil growing with each passing second. This was not true . . . could not be true! He could not have created this . . . this demon, this beast! Alexander had been hurting Valon and Raphael since his arrival. Alister would never lay a finger on either of them to harm them. And yet . . . if Alexander was his opposite, then it made sense. As his shadow, Alexander would loathe the ones Alister cared about. He would despise them and want them out of the way. And he would love his creator. He was a part of Alister's heart . . . but did that mean that part of Alister wanted Valon and Raphael to go away? He felt dizzy. No . . . that could not be what it meant!

"What is it you want?" he demanded finally, gripping Alexander's arms and shoving them away from him. "Do you want to hurt Valon and Raphael? You've already succeeded in that." He felt repulsed.

Alexander shook his head. "No," he answered, looking directly into Alister's gray eyes with his ice-blue orbs. "I hate them, but I don't want to hurt them badly, because you care about them. If they hadn't gotten in my way, I would have left them entirely alone." He paused. "What I want is to kill you."

Alister took a step backward, utterly stunned. Of all things he had expected Alexander to say, this was not one of them. "You . . . why?" he asked, narrowing his eyes. "How would that help you? If I created you, wouldn't you be destroyed if I die?" This did not make sense to him at all.

Alexander shrugged. "I guess," he answered, unconcerned.

"And you just said you loved me," Alister pointed out. "Why would you want to kill me if you do?"

Alexander advanced purposefully. As Alister looked into his eyes, he was surprised to see that there was no evident malice or malevolence present. "You want to die, don't you?" His voice was soft, filled with concern and caring. "When you created me . . . your strongest feeling was that you wanted to die. That's why I'm here to fulfill that." He reached out to shove Alister to the ground, but the redhead grabbed his wrists to restrain him.

"I don't even remember creating you," he said darkly. He was feeling all the more confused, and he wondered how he was ever going to rectify this disaster. Apparently, Alexander wanted to kill Alister because he truly believed that Alister wanted that. And Alister knew that indeed he had, at many times during his life. But right now he wanted to live.

"Of course not," Alexander responded. "The Orichalcos had control of your mind and you were being forced against your will to attack Raphael and Valon. You couldn't bear it, could you." He looked at his creator sadly and sympathetically. "You were already blaming yourself for killing your little brother, even though it wasn't your fault. When you were being forced to kill your best friends, your agony and self-hatred became so strong that it resulted in my birth." A soft wind blew his fiery red hair about, as well as Alister's crimson locks. "Then, the Orichalcos claimed me instead of you."

Alister's eyes widened in sudden understanding. "That's why you weren't around before," he breathed. "I had thought that the Orichalcos wouldn't claim a soul since I didn't have the actual card . . . but I guess . . . I was wrong."

"Only partially," Alexander corrected. "I'm only part of a soul---your soul. Only recently was I set free from the Orichalcos's grasp. And I'm going to kill you. It's what you wanted."

I also started writing something for the war flashbacks fic, but I can't decide whether it would be better to have the flashbacks in Alister's POV or in third person POV. Actually, I'm dissatisfied with the whole fic, but I can't put my finger on what's wrong.

**begin sarcasm.** In other news, say hello to the latest Idiot of Idiots Come Out of the Woodwork Year! This person's name is "?" because he/she is too much of a coward to give me a real name. He/she left me a beautiful, caring, and oh so mature review, which I now present to you in its entirety:

"your fic sucks."

Isn't it lovely? XD I'll treasure it to my heart always! **end sarcasm.**
