Plushie frustrations
Guys, for the last few months I've been wondering how to deal with a very strange problem.
There's a bizarre and unpleasant smell coming from two of my plushies, one furry and one not. I think it originated with one of them and then was passed to the other when they were together. It's only on the right side of the non-furry plushie's chest and on one whole side of the furry one. Neither of them smelled like this when I first got them. I'm almost positive of that. Both were bought new.
In describing what it's like, I'm never quite sure if I'll be understood. What it reminds me of is this water baby doll I had. Did anyone else have one of those? You fill it with water and it's like a real baby in how it feels. But if you don't change the water for a while ... eeeek. It gets this awful smell that's probably rotting, mouldering water. Even the clothes it's wearing pick it up.
I just can't understand how these plushies could have picked up such a scent, unless my hands were really wet and touched one of them and then pressed it against the other one and instead of drying the water seeped in and mouldered. But both of the plushies look and feel okay. Nothing seems amiss at all except for this awful smell. I tried spraying perfume on both of them. It disguised it for a while, but when it faded the smell was still there. In the past I was able to perfume away unpleasant smells on other plushies. This one stubbornly staying on really concerns me.
Any ideas what it could be or what I could do to get rid of it?
