"Kendall, would you please stop pacing? There's nothing to worry about. It's just dinner."
"It's not just dinner. I'm meeting your entire family."
Logan smiles and shakes his head. He is sitting on the edge of the bed just watching Kendall walk back and forth. He's never admitted it, but he loves seeing Kendall nervous and out of his element. It's a side that a very select few have ever really seen and it's also his chance to play the role of protector to Kendall's apprehension.
"Look," Logan begins, "there is nothing to worry about because I'll be with you the entire time." Kendall looks over at Logan and smiles. "But I guess this is a good time to tell you that if they don't like you, we're over," Logan says with a twinkle in his eyes.
That gets Kendall to freeze. He just stands there staring at Logan. He opens his mouth but no words come out.
Logan gets up and wraps his arms around Kendall's waist. "Relax, I was just kidding."
Kendall returns the embrace and then pushes them apart holding Logan out at arm's length. "Geez, Logan. Don't do that to me."
Logan smiles, "If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times… There. Is. No. Way. My. Family. Will. Not. Like. You." Logan emphasizes every word watching Kendall's face intently.
Kendall relaxes a little more but his nerves are still getting the best of him. "How do you know?"
Logan chuckles, pulls Kendall back into an embrace and gives him a kiss on the cheek. "Because I love you," Logan whispers into his ear.
Kendall's heart skips a beat and he stands there, mouth open, staring into his reflection in the mirror, wondering if he heard correctly.
Logan feels the tension return to Kendall's body. He steps back and studies Kendall's face, seeing shock and uncertainty in his eyes.
"Kendall, are you okay?"
Kendall stammers. He shakes his head to remove the glazed look on his face.
"Did… you… really… say that?" he asks cautiously.
"What do you think I said?" Logan teases.
Kendall furrows his eyebrows and refuses to respond in case he did hear wrong.
Logan again chuckles. He cups Kendall's face in his hands and kisses him. He puts their foreheads together as he stares into those beautiful hazel eyes. "I. Love. You. Kendall. Nothing and no one will ever change that… even if they are family."
Again, Kendall's heart skips a beat. Logan really did say it. They've been together for 6 months and Kendall had been in love for five of the six, but never knew if Logan felt the same. He leans in and kisses Logan, takes his hands in his, and takes a deep breath.
"So, are we ready to do this?"
Logan is disappointed that Kendall didn't return the sentiment, but tries his best to hide it. Logan's slight change in body language isn't lost on Kendall, but they make their way to the door.
"Oh, by the way… I love you more."
Logan playfully punches Kendall, but the smile spreading on his face is all Kendall needs to go weak in the knees. One more kiss and they walk out the door, hand-in-hand, ready to take on anything the world puts in front of them… together.
