Charlotte and back again

Anywho- Caitlyn left yesterday back to Charlotte. I really enjoyed her company and I was glad she came and visited for a few days. However, I am glad that things are getting back to normal again.

I left last Wednesday for Charlotte my sister was getting married. I suppose now I can use the current tense, she is married. Wow it was a success, they went through with it.

On a random note, any time any one tells me they're going to a wedding or just got back from a wedding I always have to ask... "Well... did they go through with it?" There is actually the possibility that some one plans a wedding and then doesn’t go through with it, I feel it’s important to ask just in case.   I have yet to hear of a story of any one actually running out on their wedding or deciding they really didn't want to be married to that person. It has to happen though. - I still hold out hope that one day I will ask "well... did they go through with it?" and the other person will say "No".

But my sister went through with it, got married. Jimmy seems very nice. Her in-laws are great in number... kind of scary.  Not that they're bad people, but there were just so many of them.  God have mercy on the cook at family reunions.

The wedding was beautiful. Sarah looked glowing, Jimmy looked cute. It all came together really well. They make a very cute couple together. I'm very happy for them. And since they're both pretty people I'm sure they'll have pretty babies (unless they both have recessive ugly genes... which is possible).

It was a fantastic trip to Charlotte. I had breakfast with Colin, he gave me some really helpful feed back with my photography, I've been trying to employ his suggestions in my analysis of my pictures, and when I shoot. I was really pleased with our meeting.

I had lunch with Marcia. I miss her. She's still as incredible as ever.

I had the opportunity to meet some of Sarah's other friends they were all very nice. Her in-laws seemed very nice.

Caitlyn spent a few days of her spring break here. It was an eventful few days. The first day we went into NYC, and I was so proud of myself I navigated around the city and we used the subway with out getting lost once. I rawk! Or perhaps it's because NYC is so easy to navigate, who would have thought a grid system would be a good idea- clearly not the people in Charlotte. We went to the Museum of Sex, Little Italy, China Town, Time Square, Ground Zero, - a lot of touristy stuff, but it was fun.

The next day we bopped around Princeton, and we went to a performance of the Vagina Monologues.  I thoroughly enjoyed the performance. The book was better, but the book is always better.

But the book or the play, it doesn't matter I really think the message is important that women need to love their bodies, women need to embrace every part of themselves including their sexuality and their vagina. God made women with vaginas, not with penises, it’s important to embrace who we are.  The vagina is not some scary naughty secret. Although the more I think about it, it feels like the conservative culture wants to repress women and sexuality. Respecting your body and loving yourself is important part of the message of the play.  Knowing how your vagina works, why the clitoris is there, that is important. It’s frightening to think that many women don’t know how their vaginas work or have never had an orgasm- I know most men know how to work their penis and there’s no cultural shame or repression of that.

The funds that are raised from the performance go to stop violence against women.

So now that I’m done advertising- we had a good time.

I'm realizing the older I become the more liberal and more of a feminist I become as well... that's ok I suppose I have to live up to the "bleeding heart liberal" that my family has labeled me as.

Anywho… I have tea in the microwave
