Everything was finally going great with Meesh today. She finally opened up. We enjoyed breakfast and a walk together, some treats and play time and then she goes and pees on my rug not ten minutes after. I'm confused now. There was nothing to upset her today so why the pe right on the rug again ( Read more... )

Did you guys have fireworks? Or some other loud noises? I know Sandy always gets withdrawn when there are noises and it lasts a couple of days.

As for the potty problem, I say sprays, once she's marked it? She thinks it's ok to go there, remove her scent and it should break the habit.

*poke* I bought a time share in Vegas chicky.

I'm SO making you go next time we are out!! *grin*

yup did that. She peed again even after I sprayed a repellent. Now I even removed the carpet and disinfected and she got up at 1am and did it again. I"M SOOOO TIRED AND FEED UP. I don't know how to get ehr to stop the peeing thing.
Help!

Ok, have you caught her peeing and yelled at her?

Worse case? Diaper her. Just get regular diapers in a size that would fit her (I'm guessing a 2-3 size), cut a spack for her tail and diaper her. If you can't trust her in the house, that will tend to at least reduce your clean up and a few days of it tends to make dogs realize they need to go outside.

No I haven't caught her in the act just after only but she knows cause when I get close and se it she hides. It's as if she knows what she did and still does it.

I recommend you praise her more when she goes out/asks to go out and try diapers while she's in the house.

But that's just it. I do do that and she reacts well to it (outdoors)so why would she go indoors?
The funny thing is the first week we got he she would run to the front door when she heard her lease being picked up or when I called her to come. Now she won't even come downstairs. I have to go up and lease her and convince her in a happy voice to come down. Even when we reach the front door she pulls back and doesn't want to go. I have to pick her up and place her on the step and close the door behind us otherwise she will try to go back upstairs. Once we're outside she's fine! I'm sooo confused.

Aw! Be patient. She probably got in trouble in her last house for running out the door and was so excited for a new home the first week that she wanted to always be with you, now she's scared to go outside because what if she doesn't get to come back.

Just keep reassuring her and keep her with you at all times.

For a bit? Ask her every hour if she wants to go out and let her out, that might help both getting her to pee outside and getting her used to the idea she can GO outside.

that's another problem she won't even go out in the yard. She used to but now I even go out and she stays upstairs even when I call her in a happy voice. Or if she does join me after she just sits at the door and then turns around and goes back in. She didn't do this at first. She even started peeing in the yard the first week and now I can't even get her past the patio doors.

Maybe if you take her on the leash in the backyard?

I'm seriously betting either she was ALWAYS outside or was beaten for Going outside. It's rough, but you can do this. Just be patient, maybe sit in the grass with her out back for a bit each day? pet her and reassure her it's an ok place to be? Without putting any pressure on making her go out there.

The other totally bizarre thing you could try is Doggie Litterboxes. They are like a cat's box but bigger and easier to clean.....it would solve the inside problem.

Maybe there is something in the yard that worries her?

??? Honsetly there's nothing. She used to run around and dig and sleep on the grass and when she does occassional go out that's what she does slep on the grass.

Weird. I guess as icky as it is, just give her time? And work slowly with her on it?

I know Sandy doesn't like to be outside, she's afraid of being abandoned out there and she will basically run out, pee and run back in instantly, but she pees, so I don't know how to help here.

Meesha pees on her walks, right? Just not in the backyard?

Does she ever do anything yard now? I'd wonder if there is some ultrasonic thing or something that's keeping her from the yard.

yeah she goes great when we go for our walks.
I take her three times a day for at least 45 minutes and she's fine.
She's even began to slow down and wait for me to catch up :-p
Now she won't even stpe out to the yard, even when we're having dinner or lunch, before she was right there!
She did come out this morning when I was doing some work but just sat there and wen t back in not a few minutes later.
