City Year
Well I was saved from that campaign job, at least for a career, since I just obtained my dream AmeriCorps position in Chicago with City Year. I will be working with children in the city, tutoring, taking them to museums and doing community service projects. They called initially just to ask if I had received my acceptance packet, which I had not received, BUT then he said, well I guess from the tone of your voice that it is a yes for accepting the position. Who knew a meger salary, basic benefits, and long hours could make me want to bounce off the walls. I am guessing it was the free CTA pass for ten months that put me over. It wont start until late August, so I will have to find something to tide me over till then. The search for a second job begins. BUT now that I know what I will def. be doing it should be easier. I have an interview with an environmental group for a summer job and well...that campaign job is still available.
Anyways the move and details are all finally starting to fall into place. Strange how that all happened.
