Another wonderful day with the dancers!! Margaret and I woke up and met the boys and karin downstairs and hit the beautiful Quetzeltenango market in the plaza. There was a parade going on because of the holiday and a bunch of people were carrying this huge ornate parade float of the Virgin Mary! It was insane. We bought some gorgeous jewelry from this artisan who was so excited, and Alex and I got matching antique coin bracelets! Then we had a great breakfast with Josue and Cary at the bakery. Cary was such a wonderful photographer and so sweet to us the whole day. We had a blast doing group photo shoots and she generously bought us some traditional Guatemalan sweets and chocolate! After we finished breakfast we continued strolling the market and got a chance to enter this beautiful ornate Catholic Church. There was a mass going on, and we ran into the tiniest woman ever. We made our way back to the hotel and caught the bus back to Guatemala City. Had so much fun chatting and laughing with Margaret on the ride. We stopped at a cute bus stop on the edge of a misty cliff and got coffee and ate our wonderful bakery buns. When we got back on the bus Cary said "hold out your hand" and she dropped a resplendent quetzal keychain into it!! It was the baby to the adult one I bought a few days ago and I LOVED making it a family!! She is so thoughtful. We hit some traffic and passed the time by playing cheers to the governor, the alphabet game, and a categories game that lasted until after we got off the bus and into the car to the hotel! We had a nice if slightly awkward dinner with mike and karin and got to talk about THE POSSIBILITY OF DOING ANOTHER SHOWCASE IN FRANCE THAT JONATHAN IS GOING TO CURATE. I am so excited I might just die. He is a wonderful organizer and I really look forward to the promise of working with him again!! We bid adieu to the frenchies and Margaret and I had lovely showers and a photo dump and now it is time to sleep the last night in Guatemala. Looking forward to getting back to the US tomorrow but this has been an INCREDIBLE trip! Xoxo, gossip girl
