On Friday the 13th.....
...I started printing labels for DVDs and my printer seemed to be doing a good job. I told Tekkun that my printer was working!
The next label I tried to print, the printer turned itself off! I tried a couple of things. No luck. It kept turning off!!
OK. New printer time. I checked online. The Canon IP3600 looked good. Right price for my broke butt. Looks like Staples has it. Called to see if they have printers in the store. They do.
On the road. First stop, 7-11 to make a withdrawal. Next stop....hey! Circuit Chity is going under! Good. I hate them. Let's see what they have.
Hmmmm....some Canon and HP printers. I write down the Canons. Buy now?! No! More research! To home!
Aaagh! The Canons were all MP (Multi-purpose?)or MXP (multi-purpose eXtreme?), not IP (Ink Printer)! When I spend $80 on a printer, I want $80 worth of printer, not $30 worth of fax, $20 worth of scanner, and $30 worth of printer. Circuit Stinky DID have ink on sale. Hmmmmmm.
On the road to Staples. I reset my MPG gauge about halfway there. I did it while fully stopped, and my first reading was 9.8 MPG!! Acceleration burns gas like crazy! It quickly improved.
Staples had printers. They had Canon printers. They didn't have IP printers! The holy quest for an IP printer begins! It must be IP and use at least 5 different ink cartridges.
Next stop-TARGET! I had a gift card for $25, but alas, Target had neither the printers or Battlestar Galactica DVDs I was looking for.
On to a nearby Best Buy...which isn't open yet. >.<
On to the Gulfview Square Mall. Hey! Another Circuit Shitty! They are fail in printers and prices for their games. And I am running low on energy! I need to eat, soon!
After leaving CC, I walk to a nearby Staples. No good printers, too.
I walk to my car, grab a book, and head to the Japanese place. No unagi bowl?! In the car--> McDonalds.
Best Buy at Gulf View Square Mall. No printers! Pah!
CompUSA it is! I arrive in St. Pete and a white salesman comes up to "help" me. CompUSA doesn't carry Canon printers?!?! WTF?!? I tell him it's NewEgg, then. He doesn't seem to listen and keeps asking me questions, trying to sell me something. I leave, a bit pissed.
On to Tampa, and chocolate! I buy two Lindt bags at the Lindt store. One more stamp and I get a free Petits Dessert Ballotin. Ummm.....yeah! Oh, I purchased milk chocolate and white chocolate truffles.
I hit Dale Mabry and stop by the OTHER CompUSA in the area. A black salesman confirms that they no longer carry Canon printers, and suggests I try Best Buy. I LIKE this guy! I thank him, but tell him they don't have what I'm looking for.
Across the street I drive to the crazy second story Target. I purchase soda and decide to give Best Buy a shot, largely because of the suggestion of the nice salesman.
Holy Measles!!! They have IP printers! IP1800 and IP2600. Both for $50. Both have two ink tank. This means when ONE color on the color tank runs out, I have to replace the entire cartridge. But hey! Mass Effect for $20! I'll buy!
130 miles later (at 53 MPG!) the quest is over, ending in failure.
After getting home, I decide to give my printer (Canon S9000) another shot. It prints. >.<
Sooo....good luck day or bad luck day? Well, I did learn that printers are now a mail order item for me, and that ink is cheap at Circuit City until they die.
