I wish I had some waffles... wait, I do! I'll make them later. Anyway, this will be an update on my band and my life in general. So.. here goes!
I moved into an apartment with my sister in Uptown (Minneapolis) last March, and I love it here! It is such a great location for me, as I'm 20 minutes from my work (as opposed to an hour or more depending on snow/traffic), 10 minutes or less from nearly every venue in Minneapolis, 5 minutes from my band's practice space, and I live right next to our other guitar player & drummer! It's just amazing. Plus, I'm living on my own (finally) which has its own perks as well. Let's see, what else...
I (finally) found me a girlfriend! A real human girl! She's into Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Family Guy, Reading, Muse, Eisley, and (for some reason) Me! It's nice to find a girl who really loves me for who I am. I haven't had that in a while now, and I had almost forgotten the feeling, but it's back in full force and boy it is nice :) She's basically amazing and I just hope I don't wake up any time soon!
And now, the band! In case you missed (or didn't care about) my last post, I'm currently in a band called "Everest" (
http://www.myspace.com/everestband) with Nick & Evan from Nehemiah, and two other awesome guys you've never heard of. Yes, it's still a screamy metal band (almost sounds like "creamy"... creamy metal? Eww...), but we're moving towards more and more singing/keyboards and stuff, so if you don't like it now, try us in 3-6 months per your doctor's orders! I'm incredibly happy with the direction the band is going, and it is quite interesting to be the main songwriter/publicity guy for a band. It's still hard for me to keep track of everybody I talk to, but the internet makes it easier since it keeps records of entire conversations. Quite an amazing tool, if I do say so myself! The ability to book a week-long midwest tour without making a single phone call is just crazy.
My job! I work at a clinic in Robbinsdale doing their misc. computer crap, front desk occasionally, and basically anything anybody in the office can think of that I might possibly be able to do. Because of this job, I've got absolutely no problem calling people I don't know anymore (5-30 phone calls a day for 8 months will do that to you!) so for those of you who were worried about my ability to communicate comfortably with people and the impact that might have on my career choice, worry no more! I'm out of my "scared of the pizza guy" shell and holy crap it is nice. (In very recent retrospect, I don't think "holy crap" fits with the word "nice". Perhaps "my it is quite nice" or, on the other end of the spectrum, "holy crap it's fucking awesome shiiiiiiiiiiittt!!! yeah!". Let's pretend I said something in the middle :p )
Other than that, I guess there's not a whole lot to talk about. I miss my highschool buddies (Allison, Karina, Bryna, Matt, Mike, Seth (although I've seen him recently!), and the rest of "the crew"), so give me a shout and tell me what's going on with yall! I don't feel like scrolling through hundreds of missed livejournal posts, so give me a synopsis or something dammit! :)
Over and out of it.
P.S. In a shady part of town I drive through every day, there was a sign in front of a local furniture store that said, and I kid you not, "Going out for business sale". I'm just going to leave it at that.
Wow.
