i just finished my 5-week stay at USC, being an RA for a bunch of South Central LA kids. Who would have thought that I would have grown to love them so much? All of them have so much spunk and personality...but it's great to know that they actually want to go to college...and that they worked for it to get there. i learned so much about a lot of kids (they're all really nice and good..they didn't mug me or anything), but i learned a lot about myself.
i learned i'm not half bad at soccer.
i learned i could have a loud voice if i wanted to.
i learned that hispanic accents are adorable when they try to sing hey there delilah.
i learned that i am perfectly capable of being a leader and having responsibilities.
i learned that there is beauty and potential in everyone. even the people from the 'ghetto'.
i learned that i have a soft spot for every single kid that accepted me so easily.
it's sad though because they asked me if i was coming back next year...and i said no. it's a good experience, but i don't know if i could handle it again.
