On Monday, Seth and I went to the Garfield Park Conservatory - nice way to spend a cold rainy day. GPC, now 100 years old and one of the largest conservatories in the world - is also free - just walk on in! I only captured a few things this trip since I was really trying to used the fixed 50mm f1.4 lens for what its good at ... but well lets just say a "non public" opportunity came up.
But first ... the more standard photos... everything was in bloom and quite pretty:
I so loved these. I should have taken photos of the signs too since I totally forgot what they are called. So many thing were in bloom, quite spectacular!
And then the surprise ... with a bit of encouragement, decided to sneak up the very lightly chained off circular staircase leading up to a catwalk some 125Ft above the main room - above the canopy of green.
It was quite the rush ... and while not the best opportunity for photos due to the incredible height, large quantities of light fixtures, plumbing, etc, and possibility of getting caught, it was a wonderful experience to be towering over some century old palms - looking at them from a rather different perspective.
