(other than the obvious that there is no oceanic 6 in it ;))
(in no particular order)
06. desmond&penny playing happy families (w/ charlie)
"It doesn't matter, Pen. You're my life now, you and Charlie. I won't leave you again. Not for this. Not for anything."
"You'll never forget it, Des. So I guess we're going with you."
I have a short story to associate with this.
My friend Matthew and I watch LOST together on Thursdays. Not together, exactly, but we download it, and often he ends up seeing it before me. Anyways, he says to me as I'm waiting for Jughead to download 'I bet you you start squeeing and fangirling within 2 minutes in' and I took him up on said bet, and said I would give him 5p every time I fangirled... needless to say, he was correct, and I ended up forking over rather a lot of the pennies in my purse ;)
Back to something of actual relevance. Desmond and Penny are the only stable ship on the whole show, apart from possibly Rose and Bernard, and I think having this little glimpse into their life off the island was absolutely adorable, especially little Charlie! And Desmond's story about Britain is so sweet (hands up who knew he was talking about there rather than 'the' Island? *is cool*).
05. the stuff that reminds you this is lost, not a 'normal' show
Don't be fooled by Des and Penny into thinking that this is a normal show with happy endings and everything making sense... no no! This episode may have answered some of our questions (very few, I should point out), but it also presented waaaaay more. Who is Ellie and why does Dan say he recognises her? Is Dan right in who he thinks put the bomb on the island? Was what happened to Teresa really Dan's fault and is that the only reason he's been removed from all records? What's the deal with Faraday's mom? WHY WAS CHARLES WIDMORE ON THE ISLAND?! Why was Dan tricked into thinking that hairstyle suited him, even if it was the 90s (tbf, that question's an oldie now ;))? Admittedly, some of these questions get answered later on in the season so far, but there are some that are yet to be answered still.
04. charlotte and dan being their usual adorable selves
"Nothing is going to happen to you. Nothing. I won't let it."
This was a VERY important episode for these two, in more ways than one. From the first scene they were in together this episode, I was sure this was going to be a great one, and boy was I not disappointed!!! I love Dan's expressions and how worried he is in that first scene, and how natural it seems to him to just be standing there stroking her hair even though they're not 'together' and she's got a look of o.O on her face (though I should think she's used to the INAPPROPRIATE TOUCHIINNNGG that is Dan Farraday now). This is the episode we finally found out his true feelings for her (as if they hadn't been staring us in the face for the past season) and the episode that the stuff that's happened to her in the past two has built up towards. I have to admit to having tears in my eyes at the end. I was so sure that was the end for her... guess I wasn't so wrong... grrr. But it's episodes and scenes like this that make up for the fact we never got our Charladay kiss ;)
03. desmond's 'disguise'
LOLZ. I don't even know where to begin. I am really hoping the writers are not implying this is what Desmond goes about wearing in his every day life. THE HAT. What the bloody hell is with that hat?! But if it is a 'disguise' what the hell is he wearing it for lmfao? I also love the stages of disguise. There's the scarf and sunglasses, then a hat gets added and then when he goes to yell at Penny's daddy, there's just the scarf and he's looking relatively normal! Was he just wearing the sunnies and the hat to fit in at Oxford? Cos I don't think it was working, brotha.
(and yes, this absolutely 101% deserved it's own section, ok?)
02. sawyer and juliet kicking ass
OK SO LOCKE KINDA SAVES THE DAY TOO, BUT LOCKE IS NOT IMPORTANT TO ME.
Suliet. Right, I was sorta secretly shipping these two since the end of season 4. They're awesome on their own, together they're invincible and could quite possibly take over the world, so long as there aren't any bombs around ;). This is the episode which really made me decide 'YES. They are not just a secret ship, they are a BRILLIANT ship'. It started actually showing potential for being an actual ship :o and by jove, it BECAME an actual ship, but that is irrelevant.
JULIET SPEAKS LATIN. Ok so all the Others speak it, but the fact she speaks it is more important, k.
01. the TINY issue of THAT scene
...or rather 'those scenes' but 'that scene' sounded better ;)
"because i'm in love with the woman sitting next to me. and i would never... i'd never do anything to hurt her."
"you didn't have to say that."
"say what?"
"that you loved me. i mean there are plenty of other ways you could have convinced him you weren't going to blow up the entire island."
"i said what i said because i meant it, charlotte."
FSDJHNFSKLHSFLJ.
I had no sensible thing to say to this scene for DAYS after it. Just random letters. Words could not even describe the amount of flail that happened when I saw THAT. WE ALL KNEW IT. And the best bit is, Charlotte doesn't look at ALL phased about it. She's just sorta smiling to herself in a 'ahah, I knew it! Jin knew it! Sun knew it! Hell, even Vincent knew it' kind of way, and not in a repulsed way or ANYTHING. And Miles makes me LOL cos he's like 'whoooaaah I just accidentally stepped into a private moment... pleasedonthavesexinfrontofme'. GAH GAH GAH. Favorite scene on the whole of Lost ever? I think so.
I promise I will stop with the picspams one day...
