Read-a-thon

Oct 24, 2009 13:31

Okay I haven't posted here in over five months. I just haven't been taking the time. The little online free time I have gets used up by Twitter. Anyway, I'm posting today cause I needed a place to blog about the Read-a-thon that I'm doing today. If you wanna know more about the read-a-thon, visit http://24hourreadathon.com/.
It's just something fun for us book-lovers to do with our weekend. I won't get to do the whole thing... 1 cause I started late and 2 because I'm gonna spend some time with the boyfriend. Well I guess I can call him that... it's complicated. But I'll save that for another post. The short version is that his name is Gerry, we've been dating about a month and a half, and we make each other happy. His little boy is at a birthday party this afternoon, so Gerry and I are going to enjoy some rare and wonderful alone time. Anyway, back to the read-a-thon...

Here's the first read-a-thon meme...

Where are you reading from today?
The boyfriend's house. Probably either his bed or couch. Although it's nice enough today that I may read some outside too.

3 facts about me …

1. My fave types of books are mysteries, urban fantasy, feminist stuff, and any kkind of chicklit fiction.

2. Some favorite authors are Kim Harrison, Jodi Picoult, Sophie Kinsella, Charlaine Harris, Janet Evanovich, Jennifer Weiner, and Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez.

3. The best book I read recently was called All the Pretty Dead Girls... can't remember its author just now.

How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours?

Just one. I'm an under-achiever I know. But I have a rediculously short attention span. It's amazing that I managed to get through college at all cause I'm very distractable. I have a second book planned... but I'm not thinking I'll get there. I'm okay with that... this is just for fun.

Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?

I wanna finish at least one book. First on my list is Plum Spooky by Janet Evanovich. Seemed appropriate with Halloween next weekend. On the off chance I finish that, I'll probably do something short like a kids book. Maybe the next book in the It Girl series. I know, sounds shallow, but they're so much fun!

If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, Any advice for people doing this for the first time?
Nope. Never done this before. I'm a read-a-thon virgin!

I'll be posting more frequent updates on my Twitter site at www.twitter.com/ilovearizona.

To all those doing the read-a-thon today... happy reading!
