Kei can't feel his right hand, it's gone numb while someone's fang dug unto it, sucking his precious blood. What was going on? Why is there a blood sucking individual in that school or does someone like him really exist in the real world? All this time he thought that they were just man made characters, a legend that only exists on fiction but now he was seeing it with his own naked eyes and it was even feeding with his own blood.
That guy lifted up his head while still holding on Kei's hand. He licked on his lips that have still bits of blood on it. "Delicious." he muttered and seeing that made Kei back to his senses. What the hell is he doing? Why is he just standing there and letting that monster do whatever he want. He knew he can now move his left hand and he used that to push the guy away from him and his right hand was freed from that cold blooded monster.
"Wh...who are you?" he gasped. "Wh...what are you doing in this school?" he asked while he stepped back. He still can't feel strength around his right hand, it seems like the vampire even such the energy he have. Realizing the danger he was in, Kei tried to observe what the vampire was planning to do to him but there is only one thing on his mind and that was one wrong movements then he will be killed and be a food to him. His crimson eyes glaring at him, his fangs that was ready to have a second drink of his blood and the aura he was showing that sent chills in every part of his body. It was no joke… this guy was really a vampire that he used to believe was not real.
"What am I doing? I'm studying here of course." he answered as he brush his hair up. He have a curly ear level brown hair with blonde highlights at the left part. "Looking at you… it seems like you have no idea what kind of place… you're in."
"O...of course I k...knew." He stuttered. "This is St. Alaudrc Academy right?" he asked. He knew he should not stay that long because he can tell that the longer he stay the danger will come closer to him. He remembered that he need to go to the administration office. He saw a door from the back of the vampire guy and read in the wooden frame that it was the office he was looking for. He took a deep breathe and then started to walk straight "I...if you will excuse me…." he said trying to escape from him but he felt that he was grabbed on his shoulder and he can't move his body at all. He was petrified from head to toe.
"I don't know why you are here but it's better if you just go home. This place is not for you… ugly human." he whispered on him. Kei heard it and he wanted to retaliate back but he can't move and even his sense of speaking was taken away from him. This school is not normal, that is what floating inside Kei's mind that moment. After a few seconds he was able to move his body but when he turned around that guy was not there anymore. He run straight towards the administration office without knocking the door. He was afraid that he will come back again and drink the remaining blood that he have on his body.
"Welcome to St. Alaudrc Academy… Kei Inoo-kun." a woman greeted him just after he entered the room. She was sitting not on a chair but on her desk with a lighted cigarette on her left hand. Kei remembered her face because she was one of those officials that he met in his interview. "I am Sayaka Arioka, I am the head of this school."
"Wh...what kind of school is this?" he asked directly without even greeting her. "Why is this place so spooky, the corridor so dark even in broad daylight and then… why is there a vampire here?" he asked continuously.
Sayaka stand up and offered Kei a chair to sit on. He also served him a tea which he immediately drink because he was thirsty, fortunately the drink is not that hot so he was able to take it in one go.
"Are you now… calm?" she asked as she went back to her table and sit with her legs crossing each other. The smoke of her cigarette spread inside the room but for some reason it doesn't smell that bad. For Kei, it smells aromatic, more like a lavender smell and that sooths him together with the tea that he just drink. "I'll answer your question one at a time but we will not come out with a same view regarding this if you don't calm down." Sayaka said as she smiled. "As you probably knew by now, this school is not normal and to be specific… St. Alaudrc Academy is a vampire school." Kei jaw is about to drop when he heard what Sayaka said.
"Va...vampires?" Kei whispered.
"Alaudrc is an anagram of the infamous vampire Dracula, that's where the name of this school is inspired." she added.
"You're kidding right?" Kei asked back, still refusing to believe the truth he was given. "There's no way that kind of creature exist in the modern world. Dracula is just a fictional character and never really existed " he continued but he jolted when the woman he was talking to vanished from the table and she appeared just besides him and staring at the wound he gained from that vampire who sucked his blood a while back. With just a split of seconds, she was already standing besides him without him noticing.
"With this wound… do you still doubt that we exists?" she asked, her fangs showing to support her statement. She disappeared again and she was back to her table in a lightning speed. "Believe it or not, this is really a school intended for vampire students. Initially this was created for students of both human and vampire race to study and interact with each other but due to some conflict this was now solely for the vampire benefits."
"Then why I am here?" Kei asked. "Why did you let me enter this school if long time ago this school stop admitting human student?"
"That was before I became the head of this school. As I seat on my chair as the head, I decided to push through with the original purpose why the school was created and that was for humans and vampire to live with each other peacefully. But years of not accepting human students in this academy degrade the capacity of it to control the vampire temptation regarding bloods. " she initially explained. "Are you not suspicious why the qualifications of this school were so high standard?" she asked but Kei just remained in silence, probably thinking about it on his own. "It's because I wanted to filter human students who wanted to enter this place. Due to the circumstances and based to all the past experiences, I don't need humans who are weak and don't have a strong will to enter this school. If they were really serious to attend then they must do their best to comply with all the requirements and that's what measures their perseverance and their will… that will also be the basis if they can really survive this school once they found out the truth."
"Are you expecting that all humans who pass all through out your challenge will accept this reality? In our human world… vampires were monsters, cold blooded creature who knew nothing but to kill. Our life is in danger in this kind of place… were going to die a dog's death."
"That's the reason the interview part was created." Sayaka continued to answer his question. "Depending on your answer, your fate will be judge. Do you have the strong motivation to stay… or you have a weak heart to continue. St. Alaudrc is not a famous school but it produce students that were now top rank in the human world. According to your interview… you have your own reason why you choose to transfer to this school despite of the fact that you are studying in a really prestigious high school."
Now that Sayaka mentioned it, Kota is also studying in that school. Why did Kota choose a school like that? "How many human students enrolled to this school?" he asked curiously.
"According to my record… it was… only you." she answered.
"That is impossible? My friend is studying in this school. That's the reason I transferred here because I wanted to be with him. He is a human like him and I am sure he attended this school on his first year."
"My record is not at fault. It just shows the reality, there is no human student here except you. Probably your friend is here but he might not be a human like you expected him to be."
"That was the stupidest thing I ever heard. I am with Kou-chan for long and I never… I never…" Kei paused for a moment. He is planning to say that there is no sign that Kota is a vampire but then he remembered some stuffs that can prove that he might be. The first time he saw Kota, he have a crimson eyes and then he also have fangs but he considered it just a costume because that time it was a celebration of the Halloween. He also noticed that Kota easily get dizzy in the middle of the day and he hates it when he was exposed to the son. He always wear long sleeves even in hot summer and he even brought umbrella with him. He also have a strong endurance and fast agility and that's the reason he was always number one in their PE. Also, Kota refused so much for him to attend the same high school as he have and the reason might be because of this… because it was not an ordinary school at all. "I… is he really a vampire?" he uttered.
"It seems like the truth is already seeking in on your mind." Sayaka said gratefully. "Now that you knew the truth, let me ask you once again. Do you still wanted to stay in this school despite knowing the truth?"
Kei fidgeted. Who wanted to stay in a school where you knew you will be in danger. He even promised to his parents that he will not have the same fate as Kaya. He was scared and terrified about the truth but… when he decided on something he will pursue it no matter what obstacle will stumble on his way. He wanted to be with Kota no matter what and if he was really there and he was hiding his true identity about being a vampire then the more he need to stay. He wanted explanation for hiding the truth. "I will stay." he replied.
Sayaka clapped her hand and chuckled a little. "I am glad to hear that but don't worry. I will not let you be devour by them. In my school there is a rule regarding human students. It's in the special case rule area of the student's journal page 69. Aften Law - a human student is protected by this law. As long as the student is inside the campus no one is allowed to touch, hurt, or abduct him/her. No one is allowed to drink his blood, harassed or give him embarrassment in front of others. Isn't that convenient?"
"Will that really… give me protection?" Kei asked.
"Well… probably." Sayaka smiled like she was not sure. "The Aften Law is not used for 20 years since there is no students who have enough ability to qualify with the requirements. It's only you, after all this years, who made it." she smirked "Anyway… that's the information I will give you. You will learn more about school as you stay for long so for now I will let my son assists you back to your dormitory so that you can rest." she said. She flicked her fingers and the door on the left side opened and a young guy, smaller than him showed up. "This is my son Daiki Arioka, he is second year student like you and he is the vice president of the dormitory so you can lean on him if you need something." she smiled.
"Who said he can?" Daiki asked. "I am just here to guide him to his room, that's all."
Kei still have lots of question on his mind but it might be better for him to proceed everything one at a time or else his brain will going to explode. He followed Daiki going to the dormitory but he wonder why he acted so cold towards him just a few moments ago. It was the first time that he met him but he already hate him? How can you hate someone with just the first impression? Daiki walk first while Kei followed at the back. He was small with copper colored hair. But despite of his height, he showed an aura of being smart and someone you can't underestimate at all.
He walked and Kei followed for minutes until finally Daiki stop and get something from his bag. He ordered Kei to show him his right palm and so he obliged, that's when Daiki put something on it. "Eat that." he added.
Kei spread his palm and saw what was given to him. He panicked and throw those little balls on the ground. "Wh..what are you giving to me?" he asked. "I...isn't that eyeballs?"
"What a waste." Daiki muttered. "For your information this is not an eyeball. This candy are tentrume and they were just designed like an eyeball but they taste like strawberry. From now on this will be your vital weapon to survive this school. It's function is to hide or erase your human small from the nose of the vampires." he explained. "Right now, there is not students around the campus but everyone is already at the dormitory preparing for tomorrow that's the reason you need that."
Kei was disgusted. Even he said that it was just a candy , physically it really doesn't look appetizing at all. It looks like a freshly gouge eyeball and it's squishy like gummy bears. He close his eyes and chewed three of them in one go and while chewing it the strawberry flavour explode to his mouth and he started to enjoy it.
"I think you're stupid." Daiki said while Kei was chewing it "Are you finding a way for an easy death? A human enrolling in a vampire school… you're like a prey swimming in a pool fall of predator ready to be devour. If you don't want to die then you should quit as early as now."
"I will not quit." Kei replied seriously. "It's true that I am scared. When I first heard the truth I was devastated but… Kou-chan is here and I am willing to sacrifice everything for his sake. A person in love can move a mountain, can reach for the stars and can walk a thousand miles."
"That is how stupid people mind work." Daiki said.
"I bet you never fall in love strongly so you're saying that." Kei pouted.
"Each candy will last 10 minutes to hide your human scent." Daiki explained. "That's the reason you need to be vigilant in using that."
They continued to the dormitory where they were greeted by some of the students. If Kei didn't know that they were vampires then he probably think that he was just attending a normal high school. The dormitory was big and composed of two huge buildings, one for the girls and one for the boys. There is only cafeteria where both gender can eat their 3 meals and 2 snacks time. Each room was occupied by two students. A double deck bed, two study table and a bathroom was inside each room. The three floors on the top was owned by the VIP students, children who are born in an elite family and the lower floors were occupied by the normal to the lower type.
Since Kei is a human student, he was in the 4th floor and was place in a single room with no partner. It's for his protection and Kei likes it that way. He can't trust anyone yet but he tried to asked the head if he can be roommate with his friend but she refused instantly. Assigned rooms cannot be change until they were given permission to do so.
"Rules and regulation journal is place at the top of your table. Also you must remember this. You are not allowed to go out of the campus unless you are given permission to do so. Outside the school, you are not protected by the Aften Law anymore." Daiki explained.
Kei is about to enter his room when he heard something that caught his attention. "Bull… stop running already… Bull!" he heard and while his ear was still looking where the sound is going he already saw a big dog running to where he was standing. The dog was so big and fat. It looks like a bulldog but it was his first time to see such big one. The dog comes closer and closer until it jumps towards him and started licking him on the face.
"Wh...whose dog is this?" Kei asked. "Heavy." he mumbled.
"I'm sorry… that was my dog." a tall guy with blond hair said. He was holding the end of the dog's collar string and he looks exhausted. The dog seems dragged him with him while he was running. "What's wrong Bull? Why are you jumping into someone without my permission." he asked while rubbing the dog's tummy.
"Hikaru Yaotome, the officer allowed you to keep a dog but you promised that it will not cause trouble to anyone. You should always keep an eye to your dog." Daiki said.
"I'm sorry I said… it's just… I am planning to walk Bull and then he acted like he smell something and suddenly run. I thought it was because he was hungry but I already give him food and he is a type of dog who don't want second meal unless it's already time besides I remember that he was this way when he sense a human presence. This dog is trained to locate a human and if this dog is a ferocious beast towards other vampire… Bull is really charming and gentle towards… a human." he continued to explain but the last few words was kind of slow as he observed that his dog is being charming over Kei because he was licking him and seems like he was begging to be pat by him. "A...a… are you the human student that everyone is talking about?" he asked directly. "But I can't smell your human scent but I can smell tentrume on you."
"Hikaru… you're scaring him."
"Eh?" Hikaru uttered. "Don't worry, you don't want to be exposed as the human right? I can keep secret. Bu...but can we be friends. I… I always wanted to be a friends with a human. I read books about the human world and it was exciting and really amazing. Someday I want to go out and see it for myself. Y...yeah… I forget to introduced myself. I am Hikaru Yaotome, I am a second student so I am your sempai."
Kei give him a timid smile as he reach out to the hand offering a shake. It is not what Kei expected in a dormitory full of vampires. Everyone looks so normal and unexpectedly kind. If you will erase that moment that he was bitten by some random vampire then he will think that he was studying in a human school. Finally Kei reach his room where all his stuffs were gathered. It's a new room, a new atmosphere, new people in his surrounding. He lie down on his bed and curled to the side. He discovered lots of things that day but he decided to stay. He was not sure what kind of life will happen to him but he will persevere because he didn't want to get separated from Kota.
"Tomorrow I hope I can see you already Kou-chan."
