Summary: Borderline is a moment in time where wishes are granted but with a equivalent compensation.
Author's Note: I posted this in one of my journal before but i wanted to post it again here... so enjoy readingXD
Borderline
-Chapter 7-

"H...how did you know?" Kei asked her.
"Because i once went there... I once entered the Borderline. When you entered Borderline you can feel also other people who pass through that place. " Shayna told him. "Answers to your questions, solution to your problems and to settle your doubts, it means no harm."
Kei remembered those words being said to him by the twins and now he is 100% sure that she really went to that place and he wanted to know more about what is going on. "What happened? How did you enter Borderline?"
Shayna told them the story of what happened to her when she entered the Borderline and Kota and Kei listened to her seriously. She is not actually blind, her eyes are healthy enough to see even the smallest lettering but something happened that made her blind and loss the light. When she entered the Borderline she was seeking an answer to a question and it is all about who is her real parents and why did they give her away. While in the Borderline she found out her true parents and the reason why she is given to other family. Her parents have so many debts and they always escape from one place to the other. They didn't want her life to be affected by it and so they give her to a home where they know she can be given warmth.
When she wake up she was crying so much. She wanted to thank the Borderline for telling the truth coz if she didn't see it, anytime soon, she will bare grudge to her own parents for sending her away. But the next day after learning the truth, the next day after she have a sight of her real parents her eyes deteriorate until it can't see anymore. But she didn't felt bad coz the last thing she was able to see is the face of her true parents that she was longing for a long time. "That's my story." she concluded.
"What if i don't know what questioned will be answered in this dream? Is that mean i can't wake up anymore?"
"Believe on it, Borderline means no harm it's main purpose is to seek for an answer." Shayna explained to him. "You don't need to be afraid, at the end of you will tell to yourself that you are thankful that you entered it."
After that long story, Hikaru with his friend arrived and then they are shocked when they saw what happened to Kei and how he looks like. They asked so many questions and then Kei just answered it.
"this is the first time i talk to Kei this long. You are not bad at all." one of Hikaru's friend said as she smiled. "You are even cuter if you are like this than being so serious about your life. Let's be friends Inoo-san." the others also agreed with her and then Kei didn't know what to say and Hikaru told him that he should be himself like he used to be when he is with him.

They have some short conversations and then after that the fireworks started. Kei and Hikaru are sitting to each other together with the others and Kota is just standing at their back and watching the two. Shayna stand up besides him which he is not sure if she did it on purpose or it is just accidental. "Are you jealous?" she asked him.
"On what?"
"i know you can't lie."
"But i really don't know what you are talking about i am not sure if this is what you call jealousy but i feel uneasy seeing them sitting together. I feel the same way when they hold hands in the bridge, when they talk to each other so closely. My heart is aching and i feel painful looking at them. If that is what you call jealousy then maybe it is. I accepted my death... But now i want to take it back... I want to live... For his sake but it's impossible right? It's impossible and that's makes it more painful."
"Then just stay to his side."
"but he wanted me to go to heaven as soon as possible even though i wanted to stay a little longer. I don't know why am i feeling this way though... Is it because Inoo-san is my special friend? Is it because he is so nice to me? Is it because.... i...i love him?"
Kei stare at the fireworks and then he smiled. It looks beautiful in that dark sky. He is sitting beside Hikaru but that time what he is thinking is all about Kota who is standing on their back together with Shayna. He wanted to stand besides him and then look at that beautiful scenery together but because of his leg he can't walk at all and so the only thing he can do is to tilt his head and then look back to see that face of Kota who is enjoying the brightness of fireworks in the middle of the dark sky.

"I bought the ticket."Kei said as he wave it in the air. "All in all we will have a journey of 6 hours riding the bullet train one way from Tokyo station to Hachinohe in Tohoku and then we will transfer to a limited express Hakucho train from Hachinobe all the way to Hakodate on Hokkaido." he explained to them.
"If we only accept the offer of my parents to take the airplane then it will be better." Hikaru said. "They are willing to pay for our fair for this fake school trip project. I really don't know how you convince them to allow us to go this far. Do you know how far Hokkaido from Tokyo? What if we can't go back anymore?"
"Do you think i am stupid? Of course i know what i am doing so just shut your mouth." Kei replied him. "Now we just need to wait for the train." he continued and then he sit down on the waiting area and continue reading the book that he is holding since they arrived to the station. Hikaru bought some food for them to eat on that 6 hours journey. Actually he is not complaining because the journey is long actually he likes it because he can be with Kei alone, no not actually alone. There is a ghost who is with them but still it is an opportunity for them.
Kei was reading a book when he heard someone shouting "Thief!" he put down the book that he is reading and then he saw Kou running after a mask guy who is running through his direction. He stick out his legs and then the guy who get Kou's bag trip off and let go of the bag. Kei pick it up as he stands up from his seat. "If you don't want to be caught by police then its better to run away right? Asshole." Kei cursed him and then that guy runs away. Kou stop from running and he is breathing deeply. "I am not expecting i will see you here."
"Inoo-chan, thank you very much." he said and then tears start to fall from his eyes again. "I thought i can't go to Hokkaido anymore because i can't run after the thief. Thank you very much. You are really my saviour."
"Stop crying... It's gross." Kei commented. "So you are going to Hokkaido as well?"
"Are you going too?"
"Yeah, we are in a trip."
"My grandmother who is sending us vegetables and some money died 3 days ago and i wanted to see her. My family only afford one ticket and since my mother is sick and father is busy working i am the one available to go."
The bullet train arrived and they find their seat and or some reason Hikaru feel disappointed coz another guy tag along with their trip and ruined his plan to being alone with Kei. "You are the one who help my little sister, thank you very much." Kou told Hikaru who is continuously eating the chips that he bought.
"If you are thankful then leave us alone." Hikaru said irritated.
"Don't worry i don't plan on disturbing you. I will just sleep because i am tired of working. Oyasumi." Kou said and then he close his eyes and instantly he is already sleeping soundly. "that was fast." Hikaru commented.
"I am surprised that you know Kou too."
"I meet him in new year when we are in the shrine. I met his little sister and she was lost and i help her and then we found this guy." Hikaru explained. "He is the same age as us right?" Kei nodded his head, he knows that they are in the same age but this guy have more experience compare to him about how cruel life is. It is obvious to his hand that he is working so hard, it wounded and they are covered with band aids. He has even scratch on his face and he is tanned compare to him and Hikaru. Appearance itself can already show the distance of their status but then as Kei watched him sleeping he was reminded by someone. He feels that he saw that sleeping face before but he can't remember when.
"The scenery is great." a stupid ghost commented as he flies around the bullet train and look over to window to window. "I feel like this is the first time i ride in this kind of transportation." he added.
"You are a ghost right? Why don't you just fly going to Hokkaido?" Hikaru asked him.
"Well that is possible but i didn't know how to navigate and i don't know the reason why i wanted to go to Hokkaido too."
"Huh? Why are we leaving Tokyo then?"
"Don't complain anymore. It's not like you can get off here and go back to Tokyo." Kei told him and then he smirk. Hikaru sigh coz he can't argue anymore about what Kei said since it is true after all. Hikaru sleep after two hours of talking to Kei and sight seeing. Kei just stayed there and continue reading the book that he is reading but it is just play. He is silently watching Kota who is now staying in one position and it seems like he is in deep thoughts. He noticed some changes on him in this few days and he wanted to know the reason why but he is not a person who dig on someone's privacy besides he thinks that he doesn't concern about what other's thinking not unless they freely told him about the situation which means he can't run away from it.
But Kota really is acting weird, weird in a sense that he rarely talk to him. He is not as talkative as always and mostly he makes excuses when they are just alone together. When he first told Kei that he didn't want Hikaru to come though he wanted to accept it but in the next few days he change his mind as to him bringing Hikaru with them coz the more the merrier but he can't shove off the feeling that he is just lying and that smile that he is showing was fake. Is it because of what happened to the shrine? He wondered if he feel guilty about what happened to him but he said that it is not his fault. It is his own wants to enter that situation and it is not the bad guy who give him that twisted leg, it is his own carelessness but still he is like that.

After the 6 hours journey, they arrived and also that time Kou said his farewell since he will take the other way to them. After sending Kou off, the three went on their way to the hotel that Kei reserved for them to stay. They put their things and after taking rest they leave the hotel and start touring Hokkaido. They went to the famous temple around the place and then they take picture of it because that is Hikaru's first travel without accompany by an adult so he was happy.
They also take time to eat the famous food and they really enjoyed it and the whole place is full of white snow as if it is still Christmas on them. When they are done with all the places Kei listed, the last thing for the day is to do skiing. They went to a ski place and rent some materials. They did it before when both of the family go in a skii place to enjoy and so they already know how to used it and they don't need any help by others.
Kota watch them as they enjoy what they are doing. It is obvious since the two are laughing happily and taking picture together which he can't do with them. Longing and regret is agonizing his feelings but he need to endure everything. The more he get closer to Kei the more it is painful to see him with others who he can show that happy face of him and the more he get closer to Kei the more he doesn't want to go to heaven anymore.
Kota can't get rid the feeling of frustration and hatred that he can't do anything from it. Kota sigh and then looks around and he saw a shadow of someone going far from the mountainous area of the skii property. It is announce a while back that it is dangerous to go far. He wanted to tell Kei about it but he got separated from them and so he just followed that shadow to track him and just fly if there is a need to.

The customers are immediately ordained to go inside the cabin because there is an incoming blizzard and it is really dangerous to go outside. Hikaru and Kei went inside and then Kei noticed that Kota is not around. He told Hikaru that he can't find Kota and so they search for him but he can't see him. Hikaru told Kei that maybe he is just wondering around like he always do which Kei believes. Kota is not in his self lately and he loves being alone besides he is a ghost and he can go back whenever he wanted to but even thinking that way his mind is settled with that explanation. Why is Kota avoiding him? Why is he acting wierd? And why is he affected by it so much? Mostly he doesn't care if no one bothers with his own business, he doesn't care if no one talks to him but now he feels something is missing which he can't explain what.
The customers are given a room to stay for the night. Kei is sitting near the window and then watch as the blizzard really reach the place. He can't predict that it was really strong and is really cold.
"Gladly we bring some stuffs of ours. We didn't know that we will going to be trap in this place." Hikaru said, looking at the things inside his bag and then he look back at Kei who on the other hand is starring outside. Hikaru sigh as he stretch his legs and lay down that wooden floor.
"Am I not enough to stay besides you?" Hikaru whispered but it was clear enough to Kei to hear. "I can't believe myself being jealous with a ghost."
"What are you talking about? Didn't i spend the day together with you? What are you blubbing about?"
"Yeah, physically you are with me but mentally you are with someone else."

3 hours have already pass but Kota is not coming back yet. Kei tried to look for him around the cabin but he is not there. He pass through some woman customer and they are talking about the horror movie that they just watch and then he heard them talking about "if a wish is fulfilled they will automatically vanished." and that gives Kei an idea of what is happening. Going to Hokkaido is one of Kota's wish and so if this is one of his wish then there is a possibility that he can go to heaven already. But without saying anything? He will go without saying anything to him?
Kei feels his heart stiffing, everything happened so fast that he didn't know what to do. He is just thinking about asking Kota what is his problem, why he is avoiding him but now he will go already without settling things? It's already over without him knowing? All the good memories suddenly flashed to his mind, every good memories that he have with Kota and even it is just a short stay he is sure that he enjoyed everything but he didn't said anything to Kota. He didn't say thank for giving him such experience, for cheering him up when he is down.
"D...don't go yet... Don't leave me yet... There are things... There are still things that i wanted to tell you." Kei whispered and then he runs through the room and asked if Kota already comes back but still Hikaru answered that he is not yet there. Kei look at the window and then saw a shadow and it has the same feature as Kota. "I...i'm going to search for him."
"Hoy Kei... It's dangerous to go outside."
"I'll be fine."
Hikaru clench his fist and then bite his lips. "Stop joking around!" He shouted to him. "Why do you need to go through this length for that ghost. Kota doesn't exists, he is not supposed to exists."
"Kota exists, i can see him with my own eyes so he exists. I will not let him go without saying anything to me. He is crazy if he leave without letting me say thank you to him." Kei replied back and that is the first Hikaru heard Kei replied that way. The barrier that is keeping him from being timid and doesn't care with others is broken and shattered into pieces. Kei is about to leave but Hikaru hold on his hands. "Let me go, Hikaru."
"Your sight were depictive, weren't you? I am together with you for all these years but I have this feeling that you can't see me at all, that I don't exists at all. But when it comes to Kota… he is just a ghost, a spirit that normally should not be seen by the human eyes but you can see him clearer than my own. I like you...i like you... I like you Kei Inoo, i like you more than a friend. If you let go of my hand this means that you can't accept my feelings, that you choose Kota over me. If you will let go... I... I..." Hikaru told him as he hold on Kei's hand tightly. Kei was petrified but he easily get hold of himself and then touch Hikaru's hand that is grabbing his other. Hikaru was startled and he didn't what is the meaning of this.
"You are my precious best friend Hikaru so please... Don't ruined that bond that is linking between us." Kei replied back and then he take off the hand that is holding him and run away. Hikaru watch Kei's back as he leave the room, the door automatically close until he can't see his visions anymore.

Going to Hokkaido is one of Kota's wish and so if this is one of his wish then there is a possibility that he can go to heaven already. But without saying anything? He will go without saying anything to him?
Kei feels his heart stiffing, everything happened so fast that he didn't know what to do. He is just thinking about asking Kota what is his problem, why he is avoiding him but now he will go already without settling things? It's already over without him knowing? All the good memories suddenly flashed to his mind, every good memories that he have with Kota and even it is just a short stay he is sure that he enjoyed everything but he didn't said anything to Kota. He didn't say thank for giving him such experience, for cheering him up when he is down.
"D...don't go yet... Don't leave me yet... There are things... There are still things that i wanted to tell you." Kei whispered and then he runs through the room and asked if Kota already comes back but still Hikaru answered that he is not yet there. Kei look at the window and then saw a shadow and it has the same feature as Kota. "I...i'm going to search for him."
"Hoy Kei... It's dangerous to go outside."
"I'll be fine."
Hikaru clench his fist and then bite his lips. "Stop joking around!" He shouted to him. "Why do you need to go through this length for that ghost. Kota doesn't exists, he is not supposed to exists."
"Kota exists, i can see him with my own eyes so he exists. I will not let him go without saying anything to me. He is crazy if he leave without letting me say thank you to him." Kei replied back and that is the first Hikaru heard Kei replied that way. The barrier that is keeping him from being timid and doesn't care with others is broken and shattered into pieces. Kei is about to leave but Hikaru hold on his hands. "Let me go, Hikaru."
"Your sight were depictive, weren't you? I am together with you for all these years but I have this feeling that you can't see me at all, that I don't exists at all. But when it comes to Kota… he is just a ghost, a spirit that normally should not be seen by the human eyes but you can see him clearer than my own. I like you...i like you... I like you Kei Inoo, i like you more than a friend. If you let go of my hand this means that you can't accept my feelings, that you choose Kota over me. If you will let go... I... I..." Hikaru told him as he hold on Kei's hand tightly. Kei was petrified but he easily get hold of himself and then touch Hikaru's hand that is grabbing his other. Hikaru was startled and he didn't what is the meaning of this.
"You are my precious best friend Hikaru so please... Don't ruined that bond that is linking between us." Kei replied back and then he take off the hand that is holding him and run away. Hikaru watch Kei's back as he leave the room, the door automatically close until he can't see his visions anymore.
