It's funny how one word could bring it all rushing back. It just sounded wrong coming from someone with a Welsh accent, or a polished London accent. It was supposed to come from someone with the distinctive Northern accent that made him feel warm and happy inside -- from Manchester, maybe, or some place like Salford. Someone with a comfortably worn leather jacket, close-cropped hair, big ears and a big nose. And wonderfully big hands with a firm grip...

He grinned to himself, remembering the manic grin as the Doctor told him they were fantastic. He definitely had to agree -- they made one hell of a team, both in and out of the bedroom. His Doctor had reawakened his sense of honour and decency, and together they had risked everything to save mankind. They'd succeeded, but he'd lost first his life and then his Doctor in the process. But despite how much the loneliness hurt now, he'd do it all again in a heartbeat, just for a chance to hear that voice one more time.

They'd been fantastic...
