GenCon was quite fun as usual. The room got messed up which is swiftly becoming the norm for us, at least when we stay at what we term 'one a those there fancy hotels'.
There we are at the Hyatt. Nice big room, cool big desk, nice fridge even (unstocked so we can stuff it with goodies) and 2 phones, neither of which worked. Sigh. We got to pack up our stuff and have the hotel staff move it to another room at let us know which one it was the next day. So at least it was only one room this time as opposed to the different room each night of the Con like that time with the Hilton in Milwaukee. Good times, good times.
Cthulhu Live events by PST Productions were quite cool this year. I ended up playing the pregnant 17-year-old daughter of a faith-healing preacher in the 1920's game. They even had a strap on belly complete with vibrating monster child inside. Didn't realize that last little bit 'til the keeper the remote control buzzed me and chuckled. That was a shocker. I think hubby lost a few years off his life when he came into the room to see me all plumped up in game. If I get that big I will be absolutely horrified. There are pics of the game on PST's web-site which I don't have on hand at the moment.
I got to play a bouncy head-cheerleader in the 1950's Cthulhu Live game. That was a nice change of pace from the creepy pregger girl from the previous one. (sidenote -- I didn't realize how much I was creeping out the other players as the pregger girl 'til hubby told me people were congregrating and trying to figure out who would go talk to me -- chuckle.) I even got to be a virgin sacrifice (thanks to hubby's character volunteering me). Fun, fun.
Got to see a few famous faces. Never realized how teensy-weensy Linda Blair was. Dang. And Chekhov is looking mighty-mighty old as well as David Carridine. Mark Singer still has a bit of hotty left in him though...
Picked up oodles of games. Chez Goth, Grave Robbers from Outer Space II (Skippy's Revenge) and along the same lines, Bell-Bottom Bad-asses.
I also picked up the new vampire books. Not sure what to make of them just yet. Toreador is reduced to a bloodline and Malkovian (not Malkavian's) are now a bloodline based off the Ventrue clan.... wacky. While reading the main World of Darkness book, which you're supposed to pick up before the Vampire one cause you're supposed be human first then overlay that with the vampire template... all I could think was that it was Cthulhu. My opinion is still up in the air about the entire thing. For those larpers out there the White-Wolf people said new larp stuff is supposed to come out in December.
If anyone else out there has picked those books up I'd love to hear your thoughts good and/or bad.
BTW -- I've heard possible dates for the next larp. I know hubby and I will be Boston on the 18th so I'm crossing my fingers that the first session will be on the 25th or later... except on the 2nd of October 'cause we have a wedding (hubby's littlest bro)...
