Lain
A couple days ago I decided to watch Lain again. I was curious as to why I hated it back when I first bought and watched it.
Well oddly enough, this time around I'm liking it a lot. Dare I say, it's up there in like with Haibane Renmei (which happens to have the same character designer).
I think I originally hated it because I it went way over my head. I had no idea what was going on story-wise mainly. Although I also originally watched it in English dub which has horrible acting. So perhaps the lack of emotion from the voice actors made it difficult to get into. There were probably some translation problems too. Also being a film major I have a better film vocabulary now. There's also the fact that I'm more able to relate to the characters now days than I could back then.
Anyway...
