This post is directed to Anildash since we can assume that he does read this community, but I am making it a general post due to its tl;dr nature, and the fact that I stopped being emotional and think I came upon some relevant things to ask of the VP of 6A:
(
Dear Anildash )
I still haven't replied to him because I don't know what to say exactly without going into otaku mode, or getting pissed in general about everything again. I got another letter open in Word that I'm hiding under Firefox so I don't have to look at it.
I think my problem is his assumption that I'm passionate about LJ. I'm not. I'm passionate about my fandoms, my friends, and my right to creative expression. I've moved before, and I can move again. It's just hard losing people that frequently read, review, and follow my projects since I'm not a big name writer in anything but the KakaSaku pairing of Naruto. I post on ff.net and aff.net too, but I test stories on smaller paring archives and then link there from comm posts to get more people to know it's there.
I'm still not convinces he really does understand the power of fans loyalty. I don't know what his stats are or how he got them, but I bet it isn't as accurate as he'd like to think or really takes fandom into account.
I'm gonna just say it. We're not loyal to anything but our property of choice, not the creators, the media companies, service companies like LJ, or even each other. But when anyone outside of that interferes, we band together faster than rabbits on speed. When authors have shut down archives in the past over copyrights (Anne Rice, and et al.), there's a degree of backlash and apathy towards the creator. Last I checked, Anne Rice has been roundly derided by her own fandom and outside for pushing fan authors of her books underground. People love the stories and characters, not the people producing them (dealing with just fans of works here, not speaking about fans of celebrities).
I feel like I wanna explain to him about all the insides and outs of what he's missing and should know to actually get it, but can't put it into just a simple letter! The more I think about it, the more I'm sure none of LJ's staff really wants to know about us.
::sighes:: It is really bad when I'm looking at his reply again and thinking most of it is probably just lip-service to make it seem like he cares. I don't want to think like that. I want to believe the best in people, not the worst. But, this is business . . .
In business, it seems like a person is a person, just an employee or a customer.

You put this a lot better than I did. I should have said I'm happy to know LJ helps you connect to something you're passionate about -- that's what it's *for*. And also, for what it's worth, while I do love LJ and care about it a lot, it's nothing compared to the people who are actually on the LJ team and make it go. They eat, sleep, and breathe this stuff, and care deeply about doing the right thing. That's why I'm trying to help them out, just as much as I'm trying to help the community out.

Just wanted to say a quick thank you for all the unofficial work you've been doing the past few month or so, both here and at various other communities/comment threads.
I know you've had a lot of crap thrown your way (I know because I've thrown some of it), but you keep coming back and making the effort, and for that I'm damn impressed.
